Galren I am very very very sorry but Alex reserved Mercia :(

Hmmm, is Ireland going to be in the game? If not I'll probably look for an opening in Wales or Cornwall.

Name: Haskell
Ethnicity: (Danish) Norse
Religion: Norse Paganism
Biography: A viking in living in Bægsecg's kingdom, he was born to a father who taught him nothing but cruelty and brutality, of which he was an excellent student. Each beating and bruising he received he practiced diligently on all who he could hold down to try it on, starting with smaller animals and eventually other children. However, all the physical abuse he suffered from both his father and those rude enough to resist his own blows took a severe toll on him, and he ended up with a permanently disfigured face with many scars covering his body. He is also shorter than his average countryman, and while not incredibly short it is enough to be noticed, which led to many a poor sap to their untimely death. He ended up adventuring and joining many raids of which he became known for his ruthlessness, killing anything he could manage to catch up to. Interestingly it was his thirst for blood and not for plunder that caused him to join raids, and so he was known for giving most of his plunder away. A fellow raider at one point made the mistake of dueling him for his last portion of plunder, which ended in Haskell's challenger being incapacitated, his arms and legs severed, followed by Haskell making him into a blood eagle. The most terrifying part was what followed. Instead of stopping at just salting his victim's wounds, Haskell seasoned him and then cooked both the severed limbs and the corpse, which he consumed as his final meal before returning home. Rumor has it he has marked an end to each subsequent raid he went on by following this method to be his last meal. Hated by many and feared by all, Haskell was named "Cauldron of God" by his parents, who never could have known how apt their choice would become.

Halfdan and other Vikings setting sail from Scandinavia

Name: Halfdan Ragnarsson | Nicknamed Halfdan Kvitserk (“Halfdan the White Shirt”)

Ethnicity: Norse

Religion: Norse Paganism

Biography:
Son of the legendary Ragnar Lodbrok, and brother to Ivar Ragnarsson, Halfdan Ragnarsson—called Halfdan Kvitserk by his companions; a comical reference to the fact that his white shirt was scarcely white and often stained crimson with foreign blood—has lived up to the family name, and has added new eminence, through a series of successful voyages and military triumphs, to the illustrious (and notorious) exploits of Ragnar’s progeny.

A proficient seafarer and able commander, Halfdan, counting vast farmlands and forests as his Scandinavia domains, has journeyed with his kinsmen across the sea, landing in East Anglia, seeking new land, wealth and glory, as well as intent on avenging the death of his father at the hands of the Northumbrians.

Location: East Anglia

— A Message to King Edmund —

On the shores of East Anglia where we have landed, a coastline and countryside we have come to know well, news of our arrival is no doubt travelling by swift messenger through the Anglo-Saxon Isle.

As soon as the Raven Banner fluttered on the distant horizon, Saxon sentinels issued smoke signals and trumpets bellowed their warning fanfare. Though it does seem a peculiar custom, we have come to expect and appreciate these grand ceremonies your people give in honour of our arrival.

Yet, we can’t help but imagine that these ceremonies fill the hearts of the Anglo-Saxons with dread. Although we Vikings make no pretence to refinement in our habits, even we can appreciate the benefit of not having the early morning hours interrupted by billowing smoke and trumpet blasts.

Out of consideration for the inhabitants of the Anglo-Saxon Isle we wish to make it absolutely clear that we would not feel in any way offended should the various feudal kingdom decide to forego the conventional way of heralding our arrival, opting instead for the silent waving of one's hand at the oncoming Viking vessels.

Of course, Your Majesty King Edmund has been a particular friend to the Norsemen. You have been subjected to the unjust jibes of your Anglo-Saxon peers who see it as their prerogative to instruct you as to whom you can entertain in your domains.

You have welcomed us into your lands and have spared the homes of many from needless pillage, gaining for yourself the gratitude of countless East Anglians. The results show that these are the decisions of a wise ruler and just sovereign, who remains unshaken by the criticism of his neighbours.

It is true that we share neither your religion nor your language, and observe neither your customs nor your rituals, but we have come to enjoy, as in the words of your Latin priests, a modus vivendi. We have every intent of continuing this peaceful arrangement, calling upon Your Majesty’s generous hospitality as we winter in East Anglia.

Name: Áed mac Neíll, called Áed Findliath (Áed the Fair Warrior)
Ethnicity:Irish
Religion: Celtic Christian
Biography:wikipedia link

Áed is the King of the Northern Ui Niell, and asserts his claim to be High King of Ireland. His claim is even weaker than previous Ui Niell High Kings, as Áed is not acknowledged as High King even by the Southern Ui Niell, let alone the other kings of Ireland. He's reigned as King of Aileach for 10 years, following the death of his uncle. He's claimed the title of Ard Ri for the past three years, after the previous title holder died.

He has a reputation for prowress in battle, winning one of the few irish victories over Vikings at Glenn Foichle in 856. But he's also been known to ally with Norse lords, particularly in Dublin, against Irish rivals and Viking marauders.

Location: Grianan of Aileach
