I wish there was a way to manage homelessness better. First, I would like some sort of info view that tells me how many there are. Second, I want to be able to build housing for them without someone else (from outside of the city) move in and take it from them.

I feel that my city is swarming with homeless (and crime). I did manage to get rid of many of them by creating free buss routes to the outside connections and they would eventually move away from my city. But... as new cims arrive from the outside connections, they eventually become homeless or a robber... and then they cause issues for a while before they decide to move out to another city... and the circle repeats.

I don't understand the full scope of the problem as I feel there is no good information, in-game, on what's going on. No charts, no info views, nothing I can look at.

Perhaps someone has a mod of sorts to recommend?

It seems to be a new bug since the lastest update and this bug do not bother me in the early game, but it slows the simulating speed later. I strated a new game after upgrade and the simulating speed drop significantly when the population come to 150k.
I guess a mod which can remove all homeless cims in the map could solve this problem. Like the mod named MagicTaxi, it removes all the taxi at the border when the taxi are driving in your city.
I hope someone could develop this kind of mod. It will help me a lot.

So wasn't my city the problem. A have a lot of homeless. I build new cheap house, cheap apartments but only people is coming to the city from outside, I have rich homeless people. I don't get it. Also as @martin4444 said, there is no info in game about homeless. ( I know that the mod Info Loom shows more data but is out to date at the moment)

And again... why so many people wants to come to my city if there is no cheap room in it? LOL.

I got the same problem. Some people said the homeless is caused by demolishing residential buildings before cims arrival, but the homeless are still getting more and more, gethering in parks and football pitches and even sidewalks of commerical areas, without any residential building demolished.

It is absolutely a bug. Demolish all your parks and see them leave the city in droves. Wait until R-demand stabilizes and rebuild parks. Seems like cims doesn’t move in to new houses very willingly.

Wondering ... are the homeless also what are causing the crime problem? I have 1% crime probability, but the number of criminals just keeps climbing relentlessly. Now up to 1,000+ in a city of around 35K population. The number of criminals drives the success rate up.

But I'm having the same residential demand problem as well. Thinking there is pretty much nothing I can do until there is a fix, which I'm guessing won't happen until after the summer lock.

From what I’ve seen, yes. It’s the homeless causing crime, getting stuck in your city, refusing to leave or go into a home even if they’re wealthy.

It’s basically a heap of Jack Dorseys wandering the street, in the “hobo-chic CEO” phase of their Silicon Valley aesthetic, robbing people for loose change even though they’re the former CEO of Twitter.

That would explain why so many of the homeless can afford tents. "Sleep Rough CS2" FTW.
