But you can imagine some units with lead skill too,
or unit with specific and powerfull lead skill but poor combat skill....
We do not have to imagine. Celestian Ascended Teacher Ultimate unit, Path of Light: All units in the stack are Enlightened and Have Resurgence.
Or even just the passives of the two Syndicate Overseer (+10% Crit for all Indentrued in Stack).
By their nature those things do not stack. So we got stackwide buffs that do not interfere with the proper leader.

In AoW3, i made a mod that allow some lead skill for some units (in order to limit T4 stack at end game, to boost T1 or T2 units for end game),
It's easy to do, and i bet that such mod will be quickly done for planetfall too.
They found way better ways to limit T4 and elevated T1+T2.

So wich is "better"? Fallout Protocolls + Medicine or Martial Inspiration + Compromise Exploitation? It is best to just count the total number or look at the Level Tier.

- allow player to change the leader if he want.
This would be the ideal case, no questions asked. But considering we never had this option since 1 and it would be fairly easy programatically, I think they actually do not want it.
 
Ha ok it's already done... i just begin to play AoW-PF and do not tested this technology and race yet.

Of course, the program can only count and compare skill point values.
But it is only to have a leader by default, when it is simple to decide.
For something 'better', player is required.
