This game is set in the world of The Interview (the movie) and is set after the events of the movie. I'd like to see what interest there is, if any, for such a game.

In short, you will play a political party in the new NK struggling to gain power though democratic elections, while fighting off the old guard, and also fighting (or supporting and being supported by) foreign interests such as China, Russia, the USA, and Japan.

Edited to add

The game-date start is January 1 2016
We are presuming the events of the movie take place in 2015

During 2015 not much happens in the world relating to this; Russia is able to keep its economy going, and Japan starts to move in a more pro-Abe direction; beyond that, things are much as they are in 2014.

Political Parties:

Social Democratic Party
KSDP
This is a party that was once part of the united front lead by the Communists.
AVAILABLE!
The Modern party has broken away from the leadership, and finds itself solidly allied to China. KSDP has been accused of getting funding from China, and takes a Pro-China position in nearly every issue.

Korean Chondoist Chongu Party
KCCP
This is a party that was once part of the united front lead by the Communists.
Rovesa
The Modern party has broken away from the leadership, it finds itself gathering more and more socially conservative members. Independent from influence of any foreign power, the party is becoming more nationalist; it remains conservative on social issues, but has an open mind on fiscal matters.

Chongryon
CICC
This is a party that was once part of the united front lead by the Communists.
GreatUberGeek
The Modern party has broken away from the leadership, it is the party of Koreans in Japan. Once the conduit of diplomacy from North Korea to Japan, the party has nearly inverted itself, becoming allied to Japan. Some have accused the CICC of being a puppet of Japan, as it's policies are very similar to "Abenomics"

New National Party - Saenuri
NNPS
This is a party modeled after a similar party in South Korea.
LatinKaiser
Founded and run by many former defectors who have returned home, many accuse this party of being a puppet of South Korea, and by extension, the United States. The party is capitalist in nature and favours good relations with the United States over that with China.

United Party
UPNK
This a new party that has been modeled, in part, after Russia's "United Russia" political party, lead by Putin.
DutchGuy
Openly favouring a pro-Russia position, the party has taken both a centrist and statist position within the political arena. The party has sometimes found itself taking a left position on issues due to the contrast with the other parties.

North Korean New Korea Party
NKNK
This is a new political party positioned on the left.
Battle bunny
The NKNK is the only party opposing merger talks with South Korea. The other parties favour quick talks, but NKNK has a clear policy that North Korea needs "at least 20 years" of development before a union can be considered. It also stands clearly on the left in terms of policy.

Freedom and Liberty Rights Association
FLRA
This party suddenly sprang up after the Workers Party (old communist party) was banned.
Nickjbor
This party is not a playable party, it represents the Communists trying to retain power. It will be used by the admins of the game (IE me) to represent the old order; a majority victory by the FLRA in an election means a "game over" for all players.

Very well. If this game takes off, I will play the Freedom Party backed by the United States. Its secret weapon is Team America, which can be summoned to assassinate politicians and/or actors and to fight for freedom.

TLDR; version: I am playing Team America if this happens.

FOREIGN INFLUENCED

KSDP - CHINA - left wing
CICC - JAPAN - right wing
NNPS - USA - right wing
UPNK - RUSSIA - left wing

FULLY DOMESTIC

KCCP - right wing
NKNK - left wing

At game start, the structure of the political system is based on the existing system.
There are 687 seats in the unicameral Parliament.
Voters receive ballots with the names of all candidates, and must cross off any candidates they do not want elected.

The only change is that voters may now do this behind a privacy screen.

Thus the total number of votes may exceed the total number of voters.

The Candidate with the most votes in each district wins the district. In the event of a tie, a name is drawn from a hat.

Only one poll has been taken since the fall of Communism, and it's validity is in question; but as the only data set, it is frequently referenced.

NNPS - 16%
KSDP - 16%
FLRA - 16%
KCCP - 14%
NKNK - 14%
CICC - 12%
UPNK - 12%

The reported margin of error is 5%

Never mind. You actually want to make this serious. How uncomedic. Perhaps fitting given reports of the movie's standing as a comedy. :p

The movie was a failure as a comedy; only it's serious bits were any good.

I should also add:

Foreign invasions are NOT off the table.

A player of a foreign-aligned party can "win" the game by having their nation invade and take full control.

Not all nations will invade though.

Japan will be hard-pressed to invade anything.

Russia will also have difficulty getting justification for this.

China could invade with the right invite.

And South Korea, backed by the USA, could invade to merge the two countries.

A majority government could also simply invite in their ally and it's army.

The two domestic parties can "win" the game by cementing it's position as the main left/right party. Creating a 2 party system, but also, becoming dominant over the other party.

Any "win" by the Communists is a loss for all players.

And this is a game that will be won/lost, it will not go on endlessly, someone will "Win".

Populations; (and seats in parliament)

South Pyongan - 3,3684,882 - 107
Pyongyang - 3,255,388 - 95
South Hamgyong - 3,066,013 - 89
North Pyongan - 2,728,662 - 80
North Hamgyong - 2,327,362 - 68
South Hwanghae - 2,310,485 - 67
North Hwanghae - 1,805,232 - 53
Kangwon - 1,477,582 - 43
Changang - 1,299,830 - 38
Ryanggang - 719,269 - 21
Nampo - 366,815 - 11
Kaesong - 308,440 - 9
Rason - 205,000 - 6

I'll take the KCCP, although why there isn't a merger with South Korea is beyond me.

I guess it's because those ungrateful North Korean pinkos just don't appreciate good ol' American Freedom™.

(Seriously, it's probably because NK doesn't necessarily want to go the way of East Germany, i.e. being ignored and not properly integrated even after 20 years, and also because South Korea is pretty damn authoritarian too.)

I'll take the CICC if this works. Should be very fun; I'm assuming you've seen the movie? I want to.

NNPS is the "Unification with South Korea Party" however all parties support reunification. They simply support it based on differing conditions.* In addition, it is the USA; and though them South Korea, that wants NK to develop on it's own a bit before the two are united.

*
IE the Pro-China party, wants a Pro-China Korea; the Pro-Russia party wants a Pro-Russia Korea, etc etc etc.

edit
I've added in names to the party list.

The Pro China party, and the Pro USA/SK party are both still free.

I'll be the NNPS.

This is a proposal that has been negotiated by the interim government and the government of South Korea. It would see a re-organization of the provinces of our nation, as well as a re-organization of their claims. Both nations would now use the same boundaries for provinces across the whole of Korea; in addition, the South will abandon it's practise of appointing governors for northern provinces.

This will be an issue the newly elected first Parliament will need to discuss; it is recommended your parties take a position on this now.

In short, unless you have a reason to say no, you should agree to this. You can always invent your own reason to say no; such as trying to use it to gain votes, but the public is utterly indifferent towards this particular issue; however, if you feel you can attain your goals best by rejecting the plan, you are certainly free to do so.

Each party has a "base of support" in one of these proposed provinces or cities. Note that these are roughly equal, so having a "base of support" in the most populated province is not better than having one in the least populated province; it simply means you are guaranteed at least 10 seats from that province. You may notice some provinces have under 10 seats; in these cases, your party will be in perpetual control of it's provincial government.

KSDP (China) - North Pyongan
KCCP (Right) - Hwanghae-Do
CICC (Japan) - North Hamgyong
NNPS (US-SK) - Border Province
UPNK (Russia) - Rason (total control)
NKNK (Left) - South Hamgyong
FLRA (Kim) - Pyongyang

Both South Pyongan and Nampho are seen as "battlegrounds" between all the parties.

For those who don't know, Nampho is NK's answer to Incheon

I'll be AGAINST, and I'll tell you why:

A.) Ain't no outsiders gonna tell me how to administrate this government,

B.) More provinces = More fun.
