Nice AAR, looks like a good summary of the game so far.

The Story (Seventh Session 1112-1115):

The War to Liberate all Russians from Polish Agression

Iberia was at war versus the warmongering Poles to protect the Russians. I, Hermegildo, decided to send my armies in North Italy to avoid the Polish from growing too strong, as well as liberating the Russians from the Polish yoke, while protecting Muscowy, my newly adquired vassal. I thought my Italian levees were enough. Hermann Von Zahringen, the old duke of Carinthia is sent commanding the army. About 6 months later, i received news that the army arived in Sacz and pillaged the province. Alarmed by this the Poles gathered a big army, composed roughly about 22.000 troops. Hermann tries to break the poles countless times but to no avail. My North Italian troops were composed of cowards, and kept running at first oportunity. The determination of a normal Polish soldier, suposedly made him worth 10 North Italians in battle. But what would happen when there are more than 10 time as many Italians? With such a thought, i sent all of my Italian armies, from the very North of Italy, to the very South, to fight in Poland.

Nevertheless, it was proven that Hermann was too old, senile and too incapable of commanding the army. As punishment i revoke one of his ducal titles. Since i could not trust anyone else, i take up the sword and travel half of europe to meet my foes and crush them utterly. The Normans of Sicily join me in this task. In a pitched battle, near a town north of Krakow, I, Hermegildo, at the head of the Italian-Norman army, kill more then half of the Polish army and reduce it to 4000 men. Sadly said, my Italian and Norman troops were just too cowardly and had to run before the entire Polish army was gone for. Poland won, yet another victory, but this time, it was a phyrric victory at its finest. The Polish monarch, himself, said that "Another such victory over the Iberians and we are undone". To my great delight, these were also the last words the Polish Monarch would say. For soon afterwards, he was assasinated. I did not have the pleasure of contracting the assasins and ordering such move, however. Rumours say that the Russians had the idea and convinced the Scotish to perform such an act. But recently, i received news that the Norwegians themselves did it. Which of the rumours is true, does not matter, for the result was the same - The Poles could no longer continue the war due to rebelious vassals.

Victory was achieved! The Poles agreed to liberate the Russians of Kiev. But the Duke of Kiev refused. And so i had to convince him otherwise. I laid siege to the great city of Kiev, however...

... during the assault, i am hit by a crossbow. The Pope himself had already forbidden the use of such a demonic weapon, but what could i expect from Polish, and from Polish vassals! The shot from the crossbow itself did not kill me, else i wouldnt be writing anything at this moment, but it made me unable of commanding an army. It also made me more prone to sicknesses and it didnt take long till i caught a fever... *cough cough*

Gonzalo, the new King of Iberia.

It also didnt take long till my father died. He was a strong man, that virtually multiplied the size of Iberia by 5. But the world moves forward, and so does Europe. Europe is a changing place, and i know i cannot hold all of my father's former lands for much longer. Not only due to greedy neighbours, but also due to rebelious vassals.

And instead of focusing Iberia on foreign matters as my father did, i believe, it is time to focus on internal affairs. Half of Iberia is under Moorish control. That cannot be tolerated any longer. And I, Gonzalo, will use everything in my power to crush them. Of course, while trying to limit Norwegian expansion and keeping the balance of power in Europe adequate to everyone.

The Game (Seventh Session 1112-1115):

This was another terrible session. I thought the war versus Poland would be a walk in the park but it proved to be quite harder then expected. The Battle system in CK online really sucks. During fire phase (when the archers fire) i often lost more then half morale without killing or loosing almost any men. It was really ridiculous. About 40.000 men versus 20.000 men more then once, with a leader with a martial skill of 19 against one with less then 10 and I didnt manage to win a single battle. But after about 20 battles the Polish army was exhausted, while mine was still almost at full strength despite the logistical problems. And once Hermegildo arived in the field, with fresh reinforcements, the Poles were done for. Specially after the assasination of the Polish King, and the consequent death of its heir (the Polish heir was ill and he died shortly after being crowned King). Meaning, Poland lost 2 kings in a row, resulting in a sharp vassal loyalty drop, putting an end to the war.

The worse of this session wasnt the war with Poland. The worse was that people had to be lame and resort to filthy moves to defeat me. To tell you what hapened, i will tell you first that the player in Georgia, left the game. We got a new player for the same nation, but once on the game lobby, France, the second strongest AIed realm, was sudently made a playable nation and the player that was suposed to play Georgia (after the departure of the past player) was sent to France instead. I was going to grab the French King title this session and the only thing that prevented me from doing such was the war with Poland. I must say that i personally find this extremely lame. And this has hapened 3 times already to me.

First, i was conquering Naples - and when doing such i got a player right into Napoli. When i was conquering the remnants of Byzantium, i got - again - a player into the same said kingdom (Byzantium). When i am conquering France, and already owned half of it, i must be faced with a player in France. These acts seriously made me think twice if expanding in Christian Europe is really worth the trouble. No matter where i go, i always have to get a player into the area (mostly thanks to the GMs - because i am "too strong"). And since i am kind, and very generous, that means i will give the player the lands they lost previously when they were AIed. France for example lost half of its lands to me when they were AI, but now that they are human played, it will regain all of its former lands due to my kindness. Basically making all of my conquests irrelevant, and all of my time, wasted.

So, i believe it is time for some Moor-bashing time. I will forget Europe for the time being. Of course, in the meanwhile, certain Pigs are still conspiring to gang me (notably a certain King of Pigs), but they will not manage to. I have signed some deals, to show my good will, by giving territories to my neighbours. I just hope when the time comes they will remember my kindness.

Nevertheless, with a France, with a Byzantium, or whatever nation near me that had to be made playable, rest asured King of Pigs - your destiny will not change. If you survive CK, praise to whatever God you believe, because no one will save you in EU2. Deus Vult!

King of men

Yes i did leave Flanders out. I kept forgetting about em. Fixed it now. As for you expanding into England, i had countless of reasons to believe in that. First, my spies told me that. Secondly, you had grabbed the English King title. Surely you arent just going to keep it around! Thirdly, you declared war on whatever small english county you could, and lately you even vassalized Morray north of Scotland.

Kurt_Steiner

Regarding the Reconquista, yes, i believe i have been rather slow. I expect to take care of them soon, anyway!

Engel

Far from it my friend, far from it... Just today i gave up all of my french vassals to France. :(

Varyar

Thanks. :)

Delex

As stated previous, Deus Vult means "God wills it". It was the battlecry used during the middle ages by the crusaders. It is true i had some problems with rebels, but they can be fixed easily by simply beating the same rebel vassal and re-vassalizing them via war.

Delex

No, it only brings you into the BB cycle of death if you annex them. Vassalizing costs no BB. BTW i just read your AAr for Ottoman Empire in hoi2. I liked it. ;)
