General Wei Liaung is thinking. How many year has it been? China is already in war for almost 10 years. From struggling for survival to fight for world domination, the nature of war has sure been changed. however, in the mean time China only enjoy a brief period of peace, between the two Japanese invasion. This is not really a concern though, as Chiina has nothing but people. Reserve level is still evry healthy at 6,000,000 people, this is even mroe than the entire army combined! People are relatively calm, because now war is far away from home. Of course, China is constantly winning gives the Chinese pride and honour, something they lack for a long time under the Western power, then the Japanese.

Sometimes, Wei would try to convince himself the war is justified. China has liberated a lot of conuntries under oppresion of Imperial power. For example, India and Korea is now an indepedant state, abeit just a puppet of China. However, people there is enjoying the freedom they have never seen. Althought the tax rate is a bit higher, most people seems to be happy and some are even willing to send army to help China.

However, Wei is not particularly interested in the past. He cares the future. The only thing that make him think is the recent announcement: the invasion of Germany. Many generals in the meeting argue if that is necessary. However, intelligence already poitn out that Germany is stacking up a lot of force - over 1,500,000 soldier at the border, even when China pretty much leave the border free of military force in past years. The tension of two countries is also higher, as trade disagreement leads to cancellation of several oil trade. German also feels China is a major threat, as she expands into Balkan by swallowing Yugoslovia. Germany still has the largest army in the world, but war seems unavoidable.

Wei would not question the war, though. He is a general, a soldier that is supposed to obey. He is the new leader chosen for the first Chinese Army of Mechanized Infantry. China first saw the used of mobile warfare in Yugoslovia, April of 1945, and the result is amazing. Wei was the commandaer of teh heqdquarter for the mobile group. When the infantry divisions were barely at Sarajevo, Lt General Yeng 2 other Mobile Corps, with 4 armor, 2 motorized and 3 mechanized divisions already reached the border of Germany, or former Austria. Yugoslovia was annexed in less than 3 weeks. China used to focus on infantry heavily, or perhaps exclusively. However it is the time for the Great Wall to move.

"Bring me the map", the General asked. Enough of the past, he thought, now it is time to study the map for the next meeting one week later.

When Wei was studying the map, his fellow Yeng, a Lt general who commanded the first Chinese Panzer Corp, entered the room. Wei is making some drawing on the map. He take a look, and says "Sir, are you planning to use the mobile force to sweep through Ukraine?"

The plan from Wei. Strategic goal is to establish connection to the Balkan over the shortest period of time, by using mobile force.

"Yes." Replied the General, "I am sure we do have enough troops to support that. After years of building we already have over 10 panzer corps and over 15 mechanized corps. Although the line is stretched a bit long, but with traditional attacks all along the line the German should be distracted and unable to counter attack. Also we have some Indian forces in Balkan to distract and confuse Germany even more. We need to occupy Rommania as fast as possible to conenct our other forces to ease our deplomatical pressure." China took 3 national province from Bulgaria before. Although Bulgaria is now a puppet, her people is not happy about that, especially in the east it is an industrial area. Workers there are slacking and not so productive. The Chinese government is afraid of any uprising - they can surely surpress any of that, but it will be a bad example for all other puppets. China always beleive a pupept state, with sufficient freedom and power given is much more productive and beneficial. China can give abck the occupied province to Bulgaria if a conenction from Russia to Yugoslovia is secured. Wei is not particular bright, but his plan is qutie logical and resonable.

"Well," replied the young Yeng, "it seems that you want to use infantry to attack in the north? I must admit I have less experience than you in commanding the army, but I do see an alternative."

"I was in the army, as a Sergent, all the way back in 1936." Yand said. Wei understands that. Yang is one of the younger generation in the army. When he was serving in the front line, Wei was sitting at the back. This is not because he had no skill, but because the Chinese government was so corrupted that there were way more general than divisions to command. Wei has to admit he has not serve in the front line, the very first line for a long time.

"For us, ordinary soldiers, care less about winning the war." Yang continues, "we want to survive. My image is still vivid. Althought we had numerical advantage when facing the Communists, the river cause us big problem and the casualty was very heavy. This situation was even worse, in the second war with Japan."

Ten years seems to be a long time for Wei. He was far from the front line, however he still remember what happened in general. After the crush of Communist, Chiang Kai Shek quickly moved south to defeat Guangxi Clique and Yunnan. After that, he swifted to north to unite Shanxi. No one know what made him so decisive, but in 1937 Japan invaded. Under his leadership, China managed to push the Japanese back to Korea, and a peace treaty was signed, giving all the occupied provinces back to China. After that, all other warlords and local autocrats submit to Chiang, and the new China was formed.

Then, China went on a expansion spree in 1939. First China inavded Java, the colony of Netherland. With no outside help, Netherland quickly lost most of the land in Asia and was forced to sign a peace treaty, yielded some land to China. Then, Chinese turned their eyes to Siam. However about 2 weeks after the invasion has begun, Japan started the second war with China for no reason. For two years, Chiina has already built the largest army of the world. China suffered heavy casualties though, as Korea - filled with river and mountain was not particular good for offensive. For that, Chiang developed a plan that should defeat Japan.

The battle over Korea was in a stalement for more than a month now. Chiang was unable to push forward as Japanese soldiers were brave and they used mountain and river as the natural barrier. After receiving intelligence about Japanese troop placement, Chaing decided to strike, at the middle of Korea, to Sinuiju and then Wonsan. He hoped that Japanese force would be cut in half by this.

Yang was a colonel. He was still studying the map just 2 hours before the planned attack. The morale of his unit was dropping constantly. The Japanese declared war on China again. No one in China actually expected such action, especially when Japan lost the war 2 years ago. Still, the soldiers were eager to revenge and morale was at all time high. However, when several attack from the north failed, soldiers were no long that hyper and began to doubt the ability to actually win the war. Yang was not exception, so when he heard the brilliant plan from Chiang, he was excited to visualize the victory that was not far from him.

At 13:03, june 20 1939, the nationalist began one of the largest tactical manuover.

At first, it was qutie successful. Chiang was leading the attack himself, the morale was high and the Japanese was caught off guard. In total, 39 divisions participated in the attack. The plan was to left 18 divisions to defend Sinuiju, while at the same time Chiang would attack north to Hamhung with 21 remaining divisions. The goal was to surround and then destroy the Japanese force in the north as quick as possible. However, after the initial success, thing was not going according to the plan.

Japanese reinforced Wonsan cosntantly. Althought they failed to hold the Chinese, Chiang's force was deeply disorganized by the stiff resistance. Some generals feared Japanese would reinforce anytime, so they attacked Chongyin without waiting Chaing co ordianted attack. Big mistake. Chinese force was not able to break through the defense a month ago, and this time was no different.

It seems that bad thing do come in double. Not long after the fail attack, Sinuiju was attacked by over 30 Japanese divisions. Chinese generals tried their best to attack on Japanese flank, but it proved to be uneffective as their force was not organized enough. Soon, Chiang was cut off from the mainland. That was quite different from the initial plan!

Planned to encircle the Japanese, but at the end being encircled.

With the supply line cut and being surrounded, the morale dropped to an all time low. Losing over 20 divisions would be a diaster, so the Chinese decided to supply by sea. China built over 150 submarine, based on the design from Germany. Althought not really high tech, they proved to be reliable and got the job done. Some smaller escort ships also would participate.

The sea supply proved to be costly, as the supply route was filled with the Imperial Japanese Navy as well as the Imperial Army's Airforce. However, they were not only able to bring supplies to the surrounded force, but hope as well. Japanese was constantly pressing, and would exploit every possible chance. Despite facing such a tough enemy, Yang and his people managed to survive, and slowly got back to the road of victory.

"... I still remember, the excitement among the troops when the main force finally established a connection with us," Yeng continues, "it had been almost a month. I am thankful that the Navy tried their best to support us. We were at the edge of collaspe, several times. Without them, I don't think we could capture Hamhung and accomplish the own goal. "

"However, I was somewhat happy when I heard I did not have to participate in the landing of Japan home islands," Yeng continues, without noticing Wei is getting impatient, "it was another diaster. We did not have enough transport, all the ships were crowded. The submarines, while good at sinking the IJN, fail to escort the transport properly. The commanders were simply too new, and not good at the tactic at all. Afterall, submarine is quite different from surface ships. We lost more than half of our transport, thousands of soldiers were sent to the bottom of ocean. And then-"

Fierce Battle Across the Japan Sea

"So...", Wei interupt him, "sorry, but exactly what is your point? I do not get it?"

"Well, the point is, " Yeng answers, as he moves the peices on the map, "Imagine what will happen if I did not get supplies by sea. Then, imagine if that happens on your enemy."

As Wei is watching Yeng moving the peices, he realizes that he is facing the most aggressive general in the younger generation, with a plan that is so ambitious that he or anyone else in the cheif command probably won't even dream of.

Grand Admiral Gui Yongqing, is standing on the flight deck, watching the merciless waves pounding his flag ship, the carrier Fei Hung. It has been already 2 years after he took the command of the fleet. The fleet is composed of 12 carriers and 12 light cruiser, along with 6 groups of transport for support purpose. Thie time, his fleet is also responsible to escort 21 groups of transport, with 6 marine and 4 infantry divisions on them. he is going to have a long trip. His order is to sail all the way to St. Helena to refuel, and then land in South Africa, the last remaining Allied. South Africa inherited a lot of ships from UK, when she was annexed by China. However, without sufficient fuel, those ships are nothing more than a living target for the Chinese Navy.

"Oh, a shooting star," Gui is amazed to see a shooting star and he begins to maek a wish, "I hope that I can go home soon." Being a seaman, he is used to be away from home. Before he is promoted to command the Grand Carrier Fleet, he was a commander for a small submarine group. He always thinks people who serve on a submarine are the lonelilest guys on earth. Submarine is very small with limited space. The crews almost never have a chance to look out. A lot of times they have to submerge and pray that the deep charge will not hit them. It was truely a terrible experience, it bented his will so much that he thought it would break soon. Soon after, he considered himself lucky. The casualty rate of submarine is very high. For example all of the 240 first generation medium range submarine are lost in battle, versus Japan, UK and USA. It is undeniable that submarine contribute a lot for China to defeat the top 3 naval power, however behind the pride there is countless soldiers who lost their lives, and multiple of countless of the family members, crying for their beloved son, father or husband with tears that dwarf the Pacific. Submarine, is just a floating grave for many.

As a commander of the Grand Fleet, he is rather successful. Although China does not have great carrier tactic, all the carriers are concentrated in a single fleet. Before China tried to spread the carrier into a few smaller taskforces, with 3 carrier and 3 light cruiser each. the result was not great with a lost of 2 carriers. After that, all the carriers went back to dock, until enough of them finished production and the Grand Carrier Fleet was formed in 1944. His fleet never lost a ship, and sunk countless ships, sending their crew to the bottom of the sea. Unless the enemy fleet has a carrier, nothing can march the combat range of planes. Even if the enemy has a carrier, he can always send a enormous number of planes to swamp the enemy carrier, and then slowly sink the rest.

"Humm weird," Gui thinks, "How come there is so many shooting stars today?" To much of his surpised, something falls from the sky and almost hit him. After recovering from the shock, he picks the thing - it is a small metal bin. With some effort he opens it, and find a peice of paper.

"Admiral! Are you alright?", a communication officer asks, "we just recieved a telegraph from the Central Command. We need to sail back to Podgorica now, Grand Admiral Quyang Ge and his submarine fleet will take over our role to escort the transport."

Grand Admiral nods, and looks at the paper. He does not feel right, but cannot explain why.
