I noticed in Tamas' AAR that the Kingdom of León came apart following some wars, and what was left were several independent provinces and the Duchy of Bragança. Which leads me to the nits I want to pick:

1 - the title of duke was not, AFAIK, used in the Iberian peninsula until at least the XIVth century, maybe even later;

2 - this happens, as far as I could tell, in the XIth century. Bragança at that date was, at best, a small concentration of hovels, and no kind of fortification whatsoever existed until 1130. The town was only given a royal charter in 1187.

Of course, the first part would be hard to fix, as the creation of a specific nobility scale for the iberian peninsula would probably be too much work for little gain. Besides, there were no duchys, but the counties could very well be called that, and smaller fiefs be counties. After all, under the crown of León the title Count of Portugal could very well be Duke of Portugal.

As for the second part, is there a way to ensure some titles are not used before certain periods? Kind of like the Netherlands can't revolt before a certain date in EU2.

So, anyone else have a nit to pick? Stuff like "why is William on the throne of England in 1 Jan 1066".

the devs have previously stated that the titles are just a general term for a landowner/noble of a specific type/size, not the excact title. If they had to give the correct titles to every single nations type of landlord, it would just end in a huge amount of clutter, and no one would be able to tell what "lvl" the landowner/noble in question had.

To quote Johan: It's a game, not a simulation. :)
It's very flattering for Paradox that people expect such realism in details of their games.

Edit: Is William on the throne on Jan. 1st of 1066? Where have you seen that?

You mean like this? :p

My main nitpick was the showing up of a Duchy of "non-entity" to pick up for the Emperor of Iberia, not the fact that it was a Duchy. But, of course, you can't guess that, so I should've made it clearer. My bad.

In the AAR comments thread. It was briefly discussed there.

If there is any confusion about the data William was crowned was Christmas Day, 1066.
No kidding?

I think that point has been nearly beaten to death already and I really don't think that it's terribly productive to have a thread listing nitpicks before the game has even hit the shelves. Nevertheless, I'll leave this open for a while longer and see where it goes. Who knows? Perhaps some constructive ideas will be presented.

Trying to breathe some usefulness into the thread, can a ruler create fiefs for his attendants out of any of the provinces he owns, or do they have to be picked from a list of available ones? (yes, this is still about Bragança being a hellhole in the XIth century)

So, what's the answer, "NDA" or "look in the FAQ"? :)

Thanks :)

As to your question...

Depends what you mean by "attendants". ;)

Taking a wild guess, though, the answer is probably a slightly qualified "yes". :)

Are you pro-personA not finding the awnsers? Are you? You are, Aren't you... you monster.
