These earlier starts are insane. Not that that's a bad thing.

So Christian Americans, for example, call him "Yasu" as well? I am sorry, but that's where your logic leads, and it is obviously false.
*Arab* and maybe other Muslims call him Isa, then. Muslim =/= Arab

As an Egyptian I can actually confirm that this is true. Christian Egyptians call Jesus Yasuʿ (or Isoos in Coptic texts) whereas Muslims call him ʿEsa. They also tend to avoid using "Allah" if they can, in favor of "rabena" (our lord), but informally they do use expressions with the word "Allah", especially when conversing with non-Christians. Otherwise there are no linguistic differences.

How could this have happened?

I've got a game where East Francia ended up inherited by West Francia, and Lotharingia ended up going to Burgundy and Ostlandet. Ostlandet then collapsed somehow and it's been taken up by Lotharingia again, so now Lotharingia is the Ruhr Valley and a huge chunk of Norway.

The Byzantine Empire expanding seems simple, in comparison.

I got some shots from my hands off game.

The map was the result of choosing the absolute most hardcore game rules (aside from sunset invasion). Random mongols, and random turks. Deadly diseases and random deadly recurring Black Death. Also overpowered county revolts, so small areas split off into weird groups constantly. Spain has been Reconquista'd, collapsed, and Re-Reconquista'd like twelve times.

Anyway, one by one, skipping the first pic of the whole map. First is the Deccan Empire somehow managing to make a giant chain of tributaries all the way through the Tocharians and into Siberia. Second is an HRE that only has 3 kingoms in its actual jurisdiction, resulting in an absolute mess of capitals in random places, a Saxon Frisia, and Frisia with its capital in Aquitaine. Third is typical of Eastern Europe, but Bulgaria seems to have entirely relocated to Kiev. Fourth is the glorious near-complete Empire of Alba as well as Poland colonizing Scandinavia, which happens entirely too frequently.

I leave you with this.

Well, I remember some Khazar-Byzantium marriages from my history lessons, but this can end...unexpectedly (Ashina is main successor of quite huge ex-Khazaria)

That thing with a usurper Byzantine empress marrying a Khagan has happened in my recent game too... Their kid was Muslim so the Crusades fired soon after and Pisa grabbed Greece. And then his Cuman Khagan father settled in the Byzantine empire (I got a message about it) which is now a tributary of Cumania and the kid is his heir. Meanwhile the father in now married to another christian Byzantine princess (is he getting them with raiding?) with a strong claim and he has a son with her as well (2nd in line to inherit).
