The Ilkhanate are like rabbits, not only due to their numbers, but they dig holes now, from India to Germany.
As best I can tell, the Ilkhanate appeared in the middle of the HRE, and basically all but annihilated it. I didn't even know that could happen.

I don't know what happened, exactly, but the Byzantines somehow vassalized the Seljuk king and got him to convert. This pic was about 10 years after the fact. He eventually went independent, but remained Orthodox and survived a Shia jihad for Persia.

I had that same happen once. Hungary had snatched some land at the Volga, and when Ilkhanate arrived they did an Invasion of Hungary, entirely bypassing all Hungarian holds in Ukraine and going straight to their heartland. They later expanded to Germany and soon all of HRE fell to the Mongols, essentially pushing the Magyars back to where they had come from.
I was Byzantines with almost all the former Roman lands under my rule, so it was a worrying development.
I don't know much about modern relations between Denmark and Sweden, but does that make you happy? :laugh:Not everyday you see this.

Never seen this happen, ever. After failing to get England he had to take over SOME Kingdom!
I had that happen once. He failed to take over England and became king of France instead. Later, France conquered most of England anyway.

I was Dioclea and swore fealty to the ERE, and the Emperor and his son died (I had nothing to do with this) so a 12 year old was placed on the throne. So I gave the Emperor the suggestion to have a random Tengri courtier teach him. And then when he turned 16 everyone was getting their titles revoked (Including me... >_<).
My brother had a hands-off game in which the same thing happened. The Pope called a crusade, and for about a century the knights templar ruled most of Greece, and a not insignificant part of Anatolia.

I'm the Great Prince of Italia (personal mod), Great Prince of Francia and I hope of the Roman Empire (but something should be wrong with the mod I've done... it started to crash!).
I've started as Serene Doge of Genoa, asked to Pope 2 invasions:
... and so I've created the Empire of Francia (as for coincidence my ruler was already Norman... he was Duke of Apulia that I usurped to Normans!) or better "The Great Principality of Francia", slowed conquered the Italian Peninsula and become "Great Prince of Italia", too! (In some way it is "The Western Roman Empire" :blink: ).
