There are some very strange results in that particular game. I found a similar-looking king of Poland -- he was Polish Catholic but looked like he'd just been serving tea in Damascus, and the king of Hungary and Croatia is Yaroslav the Great, an Orthodox Russian.
In my first game half of the Empire had Mongolian ancestors, even the emperor himself looked like this.
That's pretty good. The funniest thing I've seen so far is a Cuman Waldensian duke of Toulouse. I don't know why but I just thought it was hilarious.

Custom names get recycled after you make a name and they have kids etc, and perhaps one of the decendants became a pope
