This is my first encounter with the Mongols. They subjugated the Seljuks and turned Islamic which I though was pretty cool because I heard that usually the Mongols just sit there doing nothing.

That was caused by the delightful lack of Matrialinneal Marriages. His mother decided that she HAD to get married, after refusing to marry anyone regularily. Because she was AI, she procceeded to regularily marry some Jewish guy, and failed too convert the resulting kid. I have seen this with the Byzantines before, but it was a Muslim then.
