*Ahem*

The Post-Crippling mod starts on January 1, 1983. Occurences during the previous years:

January 26, 1976: Iraq launches a full-scale invasion of Kuwait, Saudi-Arabia and Syria. NATO does not act.

January 27, 1976: Kuwait is annexed. Most of her military escapes with the Royal Family to Saudi-Arabia to assist in the defense of that country.

Febuary 2, 1976: In an act to defend her allies, the Soviet Union declares war on Iraq. Having been granted permission to pass through Iran by the US and the Shah of Iran, hundreds of Soviet tanks and vehicles pour across the border, with a swarm of fighters and fighter-bombers above them.

Febuary 4, 1976: The biggest battle in the war so far, the Battle of Halab, occurs between the Iraqi Republican Guard’s 2nd Armored Division and the Syrian 26th and 65th Armored Divisions. Both sides manage to destroy each other in battles on the hillsides. The Syrians are near destroying the 2nd Armored when a full regiment of attack helicopters arrive.

Febuary 15, 1976: 10 Iraqi Mirage 2000 fighters launch Air-to-Surface missiles on the US Destroyer USS Blandy. Consequently, the United States declare war on Iraq. The recently reactivated 24th Infantry Division is ordered sent to Saudi-Arabia.

Febuary 19, 1976: Egypt and Israel both declare war on Iraq.

Febuary 22, 1976: In what General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev calls “an attempt to counter Imperialist agression in the Middle East”, the Soviet Union declares war on NATO.

Febuary 27, 1976: Seeing an oppurtunity, the People’s Republic of China, together with North Korea, Vietnam and Laos, declares war on both the Soviet Union and the United States.

March 17, 1976: Hannover and Hamburg both seized by Soviet forces. Denmark threatened.

March 19, 1976: Syria surrenders to Iraq. The Syrian government-in-exile in Italy calls for a cessession of hostilities around the world.

March 20, 1976: US Army General Alexander Haig, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, dies when his Chinook helicopter is shot down by a low-flying Soviet fighter.

March 25, 1976: South Korea is conquered. A total of 6000 US Soldiers of 2nd Infantry and 3rd Marine Divisions are captured with most of their equipment.

March 29, 1976: Crete, the last stronghold of Greece, is eliminated by a seaborne invasion launched by a Soviet Marine Brigade.

March 30, 1976: Baghdad is conquered by Soviet forces and Iraq is forced to fight the war from Basrah.

April 2, 1976: Seizing the oppurtunity, the US 24th Infantry Division’s 3rd Brigade seizes Basrah. This is the last city in Iraq to fall. Iraq surrenders, with governments being allowed to return home. But the country, along with the rest of the Middle East, is now a battlefield for the Cold War.

April 4, 1976: Syria and Egypt declare full support of the Soviet Union.

April 10, 1976: The Soviet Forces in the Far East begin a full-scale invasion of Manchuria. They cut off Chinese forces in Korea.

April 25, 1976: From Inchon, the Chinese troops in Korea leave for home.

April 30, 1976: Russian forces conquer Iceland.

May 5, 1976: At F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, a desperate Major-General Henry Wallace launches his quantities of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles at Kiev.

May 6, 1976: In response, the Soviet Union launches Strategic and Tactical weapons all along their front. The US does the same.

May 17, 1976: With most of Europe and the western Soviet Union in ruins, the rest of the Soviet nuclear arsenal is launched on China. The response is the Chinese nuclear arsenal.

May 23, 1976: The world in ruins, all parties agree to cease-fires.

June 1976-May 1978: The nations of the world dissolve. Tightly woven groups “Brotherhoods” group into new nations to survive in the now destroyed world.
