The Purple Lion Roars! - A Holy Fury Reconquista AAR:​

Greetings members of the Paradox Forums, its been a while seen I've done a AAR and since Holy Fury has dropped, I figured I would move away from my comfort zone, and start a game in Spain as Leon in the Stamford Bridge bookmark, since there are a number of changes to wars in Spain, owing to HF. Plus, I feel like throwing myself back into AAR writing.

Game Objectives:
Reconquer Spain from the Muslims. ()

Form the Empire of Hispania. ()

DLC:
All major DLC is enabled bar Sunset Invasion, Conclave, Horse Lords, Rajas of India, Jade Dragon, Monks and Mystics and Sunset Invasion. I also have a large amount of the cosmetic DLC.

Game Rules
All settings default apart from the following.
Dueling - Unrestricted
Shattered Retreat - Off
Invitation to Court - Open
Diplomatic Range - Off
Release Prisoners After Punishment - Off

Mods:
None

Please do feel free to provide advice and constructive criticism, as I have never done a game in Spain before, so this AAR may come to a quick and violent end. If you also want to suggest further game objectives do feel free to do so.

Chapter I: - The First Steps ( September 1066)

AN: apologies for the differences between Alphonso and his brothers, the image was taken at the end of my quick session because I forgot to take it at the start.

Spain 1066, King Alfonso rules over Leon, but there are two other powerful players upon the Iberian Peninsular. Sancho III, the king of Castille who is one of Alfonso's brothers, while Garcia II the other brother rules over Galica.

Alfonso's council was mostly competent, but the chancellor steward, and spymaster would be replaced within the month.

Alfonso quickly arranged a marriage to young Rocca De Hautville, a relation to the current king of Sicily. She was hardly the best of individuals, as she was known for her cynicism and lack of courage. But, she was well versed in matters of intrigue.

With his marriage sorted, Alphonso elected to focus on intrigue and manipulation in order to aid in the furthering of his goals on the peninsular.

Needing to improve his authority, Alphonso borrowed money from the local Jews and created the Duchy of Leon, in order to strengthen his position upon the throne.

Matters quickly moved to that of assassination, as Alphonso started to plot to murder his brother Sancho II in order to acquire lands in Castille.

AN: apologies for the short chapter, just wanted to lay the groundwork for the future, I haven't played past September at the moment.

It involves murder and a bit of luck as for a good commander, there is someone with the bloodline of El Cid in my court.

Mercifully, the consolidation happened rather quickly, now its just a matter of holding onto everything.

I apologies for the delay in the next chapter, I have the pictures and the chapter mostly written but my PC is currently on its last legs and I forgot to transfer the chapter doc from my gaming pc to my uni laptop. The chapter will be done within the next few days.

Afternoon all, first, I apologise for not continuing this AAR, my computer ended up giving up the ghost before I could transfer the pictures over to my uni laptop. So I was stuck without a laptop that could play CK2. Fortunately, that has now been rectified as I now have a replacement PC. I plan on resurrecting this AAR around new year. In the meantime stay tuned.
