  • Crusader Kings II
the Queenlands Submod for A Game of Thrones
Download: Here
Compatibility: Essos version 0.5 (0.6 should work, but not tested)

Content: The Queenlands Submod injects a matriarchal culture and religion into the Westeros and Essos. The Queenlandian culture is basically Amazons in Game of Thrones. There are several houses, some tweaking of lore for immersions sake, a new religion, and Amazon-modding taken tweaked for this setting. This mod is setup only to work with Bleeding Years scenario.

Background/Features: After the Doom, a group of women left Valyria and headed north, eventually settling at what they called the "Astral isles" north of the Dothraki Sea in what would later be known as "Ib." They called their nation the Queenlands and with House Aerathyn ruling the matriarchal isles, the women there ruled for centuries and centuries, until turmoil from House Ursuleth caused a fracturing of the authority of the Queenlands. During their rampaging across Westeros, the Queenlandian noble houses split into four queendoms:
  • Aevrum-Mar -- Aevrum-Mar is a territory southwest of the Reach, where House Moreen was ruling when the Queenlands crown was dismantled. House Moreen created the Flower crown and has ruled the open plains for years, though House Byheader, their bannerladies, covets the crown.
  • The Spear Throne -- The Spear Throne was created by House Malcanthet during the dissolution of the Queenlands. Seizing the lands from the clawmen at the Bay of Crabs, House Malcanthet became known as the Spear Queen for leaving countless men to sit upon a sea of spears. Cruel and ruthless, House Malcanthet rules the Spear Throne lands with absolute authority.
  • The Matronlands -- House Aerathyn governed the Queenlands since its founding and has since fallen from glory. Still wielding the Kingsbane, House Aerathyn fled the Astral Isles to avoid being completely destroyed at the hands of House Ursuleth. In the Bleeding Years, Aephasent Aerathyn wields the Kingsbane and is torn between reforging the Queenlandian crown or seizing Westeros from the authority of men.
  • The Astral Isles -- House Ursuleth now rules the Astral Isles, though in the Bleeding Years Astral Queen Molevia Ursuleth is dealing with countless riots and mutinous noble houses. She seeks to finally establish absolute authority over the Astral Isles before turning her gaze to conquering Essos, in particular the patriarchal Dothraki, whom she despises and sees as little more than savages.

You can create the title of "The Queenlands" by finding it.

Known Issues:
Some crashing bugs with trying to convert culture has been found... feel free to fix that someone :p
I'm fairly confident that pregnancy bugs have been fixed with lovers and whatnot, but we'll see.

Notes:
I don't claim a lot of the coding here, since I adapted a lot from other mods I found. I just really wanted to play matriarchal cultures set in Westeros/Essos, so this was designed for personal use until I realized maybe 1 or 2 other people might want to try it so here you go.

Actually the co-ruler option is still there, but it has been slightly tweaked for only family members of the ruling House to co-rule and some other stipulations. Other things such as the pregnancy festivals, harems of men/women, falling in love with the co-ruler (thus incest), etc., are still there. I can't remember all that I removed, but it wasn't much.

Note too, that there are two Amazon mods that were made that I joined together for this GoT mod, though there was a great deal of overlap between the two.

I realised the co-ruler option was indeed there when I looked over at the Spear Throne queen and noticed she was married to her 30 year old daughter. Is there an Empire the Astral Isles can create? Also I can't creat the High Lordship of Astria as the Astral Queen, the creation requirements say I need to be Ibbenese. Again also, I believe the localisation for the female harem option still says 'amazon' instead of Queenlandian.

How do you utilize a co-ruler?

Also, this mod seems to break dragons somewhat. I just saw Balarion looking like a really old man, serving as Aegon's Man-At-Arms.

There is no "empire" the Astral Isles can create as House Ursuleth, however click on "Find Title" and search for "the Queenlands" and you'll see an "empire" that is located there that the other elite houses of the former Queenlandian nation can create. The Astral Queen is a title reserved for the current ruler, after deposing of the Queenlandian crown. I left it a "kingdom" because I wanted to allow for a potential return of one of the Houses in the west to reforge the Queenlands. The Astria High Lordship is a boo-boo, as well as the localization for female harem (never did it so never caught it). I'll fix them soon when I get a sec.

co-ruler is a "decision" that becomes available when an immediate family member (I think a mother or daughter) is of certain age and unmarried themselves. I haven't updated my Essos version with the dragons as characters feature, which sounds awesome, but that sucks that this causes some issues with that! This mod was made for Essos 0.5, I repeat, so I guess my "should work" hope has been shattered :glare:

Thanks for trying it out though
