Chapter IV
By the end of February 1942, Germany was crushed. Sure, its army was still fighting, but most of the goverment had been captured and executed and of its empire, only France, Belgium, Luxemburg and Netherlands were left. The German allies in Europe was only Soviet puppets and the German divisions were just divisions in theory.
But the merciless Soviet onslaught continued as Italy was taken out, Rybalko was ordered north to lead the last offensive against Germany, together with Budyonny, Zhukov and Voroshilov. It was named Operation Stalin and the Soviet armies would attack in wave after wave.
Operation Stalins first wave.
When the attack came, the Germans had to retreat. The offensive was so powerful that a Russian army, under Rokossovskij, reached Dieppe, cutting the German territory in half. A few days later, the 1st Mechanized Corps under Rybalko, reached Paris. The Germans surrendered after less than a year of constant defeat. The result was a red Europe.
As morning broke in the Kremlin, Stalin said to Molotov:
"It truly is a red dawn, Vyacheslav." Molotov just nodded.
The end.
