That's 7 players which is a nice amount for a game.

So I hereby officially announce that the game will start in approx. 24 hours. Sign-ups remain open until then.

If there's interest for more than 10 players, I could (hopefully, with approval) arrange a concurrent game with different rules.

I like how this game is a bit slower paced than Werewolf, yet not too slow paced. A nice middle ground.

Also, last time I played a game with this rule-set I had what was probably my best game. :)

By the way, it is my opinion that games with 4 spies are a bit skewed towards their victory, so right now I'm thinking I'll have mostly pro-goodie roles and stuff.

Do people want the Chair of Indefinite Studies (aka Lancelot)?

Don't we only have three spies at the moment? This is actually the best possible ratio for the good guys (2:1), unless we get one more to join.

I personally don't like the Lancelot role; it's irritating to play well for your side and then lose because your allegiance is suddenly switched via events you don't control.

I don't like Lancelot, then again I don't really like Avalon in general :p I much prefer the other one for some reason, seems more clean. Lancelot does add something to the game definitely in terms of analysis, then question is whether it's worth it for the poor couple who actually get the role and don't know what to do with it.
One thing we could maybe change, in future games if not this one, is the fact that the Lancelots have no control over if they swap or not. As it stands, there's no point working for either side as either Lancelot, as the chance of being in one side or the other is exactly 50%, as far as I can remember (maybe this is changed, but I'll be damned if I'm actually going to read the rules). Thus there's no benefit to supporting either side and this means the Lancelots are effectively impartial observers, spectators if you will, for the beginning and middle of the game.

I think the deciding factor shall be that the Evil Lancelot gets no information about his fellow baddies. This would reduce the game to 6 vs. 2 and a bit. That sounds like recipe for a goodie landslide, after which a lucky assassination would really sour the ending.

So no Chairs of Indefinite Studies. No Mirror 'cause without changing allegiances, it's just a boon for the goodies.

Let's keep the Staff, it's never ever been used, maybe for once someone will take the risk.

Actual setup will be posted in post #2 in a bit

Expedition 1 - A lost book

Librarian_(Discworld).jpg

Two weeks ago, one of the books from the University Library went missing. A history book referencing some obscure part of Ankh-Morpork's past.

Although usually this would 'only' evoke the murderous urges of the Librarian, this particular book seems to have been of peculiar interest to Archchancellor Ridcully himself, as he repeatedly asked for it to be permanently moved to his personal study. Its disappearance seems to have caused Ridcully quite some turmoil, since he hasn't scheduled a boar hunt on the ground for two whole weeks now and hasn't frightened the Bursar to insanity once.

Some whisper that the book contains dark secrets of Ridcully's past, a real treasure for a skilled blackmailer. Others claim it has emotional value to the man and bringing it back would see him very grateful.

Either way, an opportunity has presented itself and the book must be found!

Madchemist, Professor of Mad Chemistry, please pick 3 people to form an Expedition to search for the book.
Also, pick one of those people (not yourself) to carry the Octiron Staff.
