9 should be enough, but I'll wait just a little longer in the event that a 10th comes along.
While I'm all for closing sign-ups, I'd prefer if we had a little public pow-wow about the actual setup to use before you start handing out roles.
That is a great idea.
On further thought, I really won't have time to do leader order, deciding roles, PMing the roles, deciding on optional rules, etc, until at least later on tonight. That being the case, there's not much point even closing it quite yet. But if anyone has thoughts on set-up, now is the time. As noted, the rules are 1:1 based on Falc's game in October, with names swapped for thematic flavor. I'm fearing that the vision rule (Palantír last time) could be a bit much.
Another question is whether or not all roles should go in. There are enough people to use them all, but I'm not sure how balanced that is.
I disagree, Vision is essential. And even if it's used at its best, it brings fewer scans than card variation has.
I'd put all but Morrigans and Medb.
We haven't done many Avalons here overall, but I think all had a Lancelot (Morrígan, this time). I do have to admit that I'm curious to see what things would look like without it.
9 players is actually not bad for the Resistance, with 6 vs 3. You can't get much better odds to find a Spy-free mission purely random.
So I would try to add some fun without shifting the balance.
Chariot (=), Vision (+U), Cuchulainn (+U), Fidelma (+C), Mebd (+C).
Don't add Fergus.
Maybe Morrigans, maybe not. Not would be interesting for a change.
(PS: you've got some Medb in Mebd's description... or the other way round?)

Oh, and if a 10th player signs up, I would keep that setup but replace Fidelma with Fergus
Based on that, I will close sign-up now. I like the idea of there being as proportionately few Spies as possible. (Though the same would apply with 6, too. )
Ok, I am thinking no Lancelots (let's try it!) but all other roles but Fergus. Apologies to all of those who aren't experienced enough here to know the lingo. I am intrigued by the 9, as that's the maximum of players with the least % of total Spies. Randakar, though you're not playing, feel free to keep a running view on this. You clearly put a good deal of thought into the games, even if you cannot play them.

I played game 8, but then didn't play for 8 games, and when I came back, half the people had changed. Marty showed up and k-59, tnt, Kingepyon, and Xarkan where gone.
Edit: I remember really screwing up an open up card because I didn't trust TNT, despite that he was cleared twice. I passed it to some random person, who happened to become leader, and purpose a successful team of 4, meaning I somehow bumbled the resistance to victory.:rofl:
