That team was doomed to fail, we did the right thing!

Now - madchemist and I make the perfect pair. A mission with me and him will certainly succeed.

Incorrect. There is a 40% of it succeeding (assuming a spy on it will definitely sabotage, which is perhaps a foolish assumption), against a 60% chance of any team with me in it succeeding.

According to Falc, rejecting teams means more teams which means more information. Except for the fallacy that if you always reject the first few proposals, then you can say that with sigma = 0.63, that the first few proposals become meaningless anyway.

Even then, it's not wholly useless. You can see which players are apparently preferred as teammates by each person proposing the mission; spies usually want to be the only spy on the mission, as it makes it easier to sabotage the mission without blowing the cover of more than one spy. Of course, this is such a known fact that spies often propose missions with multiple spies now, so take that with a grain of salt.

- Will I have to listen to the saccharine exuberance of this fellow for the entirety of this hopeless venture? I see no chance for success in this, and yet, as Stevenson once said: "A man must not deny his manifest abilities, for that is to evade his obligations." We have at least that minimal level of competence for this mission to proceed, now that I shall be present, and though I have little doubt that this shall fail anyway, I believe this mission ought to proceed, or else we are even more doomed than before to utter disaster.

- Yes! Yes! Gib spot! Gib! Gib!

Check your math. If you are Resistance and not on the mission, then there are 3 other resistance members and two spies. For the mission to succeed, 2 people must be picked, and both must be resistance. The first is chosen with a 3/5 chance of being good, and the second has a 2/4 chance of being good, so the actual odds are 6/20 = 30%. (Alternatively, you can calculate this as (3 choose 2)/(5 choose 2), which gives the same result.)

*Sigh* I even have to do the math for the mathematician here. We are surely doomed.

5 chickens appear and take a bow to the audience.

Swedish Falc arrives on the scene, holding a wooden spoon. He also takes a bow and thens stand behind the chickens.

*bops the first chicken on the hindquarters with the spoon*

"R!"

*second chicken*

"E!"

*third chicken*

"J!"

*second chicken again*

"E!"

*fourth chicken"

"C!"

*fifth chicken*

*chicken asleep*

*hit the chicken again*

*still asleep*

Falc tosses the spoon and rummages in the background, finally coming up with a crossbow.

He starts loading the crossbow, but the chicken wakes up, notices Falc and then runs away with his companions.

Looking dejected when he notices the chickens are gone, Falc ponders for a second and then gulps audibly. Gingerly, he lowers the crossbow and with a loud *TWANG*, loosens the bolt.

"T!" he screams, hopping around on one foot while the bolt pokes through his other foot.

The first was not assuming I'm resistance. The second one was. There's a 50% chance of flipping a coin and getting heads - sEE- MAths!

Oh, OK. A random mission picking any 2 players and assuming no foreknowledge does have a 40% chance.

You should really vote, by the way.

I missed Arkasas' vote apparently... The problem with being the last post in a page, I guess. Terribly sorry, won't happen again.

The team was rejected 4-2:

Yay: Tamius, Madchemist
Nay: Aedan, marty, Falc, Arkasas

Next up is Marty, propose a team of 2 please.

Yeah...let's not let this guy have a fifth proposal to make. :p

We did the right thing in rejecting that team… maybe I was wrong about madchemist.

The fact I'm on marty's team makes me happy…

- Great. Our brief window of possible sanity has already been closed, so we are completely and utterly doomed once more. And we're about to reach the end of our proposal limit, too.

- Yeah! Why yuo of no investings in Eastern Polan? I of mean taking madchemist on mission? Is of bad idea. But waiting for fifth mission is of bad idea too.

- Right, right. As Jefferson said, "Delay is preferable to error", but this much delay may itself constitute an error, as we shall soon be forced to accept whatever is proposed next.

*Sigh*. Very well. It's all going to fail anyway, likely enough, whatever is chosen. I shall ponder the matter awhile, then
