I totaly agree with Pat her Bocaj please countiue this great story.

Ok, thanks guys, as soon as I have time I'll continue it :D

Ok, I have time now, even if it is at 2 am. These are the notes from playing a month ago:

Last time I lost Sicily to Turkey but not enough to stop Algiers DoWing me. So this post is the story of

The Algieran War

Sire, Algiers have assulted Tunisia! We might fall!

Ok send troops to try and rally them after their morale is down.

Sire! It worked. You are brilliant!

Send an army to erode the one in Kabylia down.

Sire! We won the battle but lost 3/4 of our troops.

Did Algiers lose much?

No, they only lost about 2- 3 k troops.

My Navy also seems strong. It bet an Algieran one twice the size. My troops in Africa are dwinded down to 700 after some good manuvearing on their part. Romagna revolted. Algiers caught Tunisia after a good fight with my garrison.

I opened the dipomatic channels and offered Tunisia, yet they rejected. In 1506, Romgna was taken by rebels. I have almost no army. I normal sized navy that has a much higher technology than Algiers.

I make an ambissious attempt to capture Al-Djazair but get driven to Aures which I take no problems. A revolt in Tunisia hands control gratefully (both sides) into my hands. I capture Al-Djazair and see a 30k army just watching from neighbouring provinces. I move those troops into Kabylia whcih I soon capture the province.

After hearing that 3 provinces had fallen including their capital, I propose that I take Kabylia and Aures + reparations which they promptly accepted. That's the price for peace, I suppose.:D

Now I have lots of revolts but soon it won't be so bad.

That's where i got up to. Next post when I play the game next.;)

The willowing of joyous shouts filled the streets of Florence. Spains seige had been lifted and the glorious empire had upsized by two provinces Catalonia and Gerona. Now a year ago none of the people of Florence would have been beleived if they thought they would beat Spain. This is the timeline of events:

Tuscany DoWed Papal States for a ill thought out land grab.
All Tuscany's allies (Austria, Hungary, Bohemia, Wutemburg, Baden, Spain) deserted her.
Rome was taken and soon after their government fell and peace was was reintuted.
Then Spain DoWed the medium sized republic.
Tunisia, Tripoltania, Romagna and Kabylia all fell to Spain in succession
Then I was able to rally:
I captured the medium fort in Andulasia with 16 k
then moved to the medium fort in Madrid
Split the army in two (one half died and the other's were heros(the story of life))
Half went to Leon and died
Half went to take Aragon, Catalonia and Gerona in quick succesion as if forts hadn't even been invented.
Venice DoWs me and takes Emilia

GUILIANO de MEDICI rules the country.

After training my apprentice, I shall now leave him to wage war against Venice knowing that size doesn't matter. It only took 7k troops to turn the war around. They shall be honoured in the tradition of Florence, promoted to bankers...

While at the end of this AAR I didn't fulfill my goals except one: To Subdue Spain, Tuscany changed history. Although Tuscany eventually went back to being a peaceful, industrious nation, under Pierro they shone the brightest star into the renaissonce that was seen by all. Venice in the end settled for status quo and after that humilating defeat at Madrid, Spain didn't bother Tuscany for another 100 years. Frnace and Papal States, seemed happy running the affairs of their state. Eventually Tuscany let go of Tunisia and Libya and were annexed into the kingdom of Italy in the 19th century.

The brave troops shall never be forgotten...

P.S. Sorry guys about not giving it much up and go. I just wanted to go out honourably.

What, it's finished???? And you were just starting to show Spain who's boss..........

The truth is that I really would like to finish this story but it's a real hastle when you have to restart your computer whenever you quit EU...

I would also have loved to kick more Spain ass. Maybe when I'm in the mood I will play a bit more... You don't know.;)

Guiliano sat on the throne adorned in many different clothes and jewelry. All of which was from the newly conquered African provinces. Ivory, diamonds, gold, these were the norm for Florence these days. Wine from the newly conquered provinces in the Iberian penenisula flowed through the capital.

The warn mediterrean climate brought much warmth and a beautiful climate for olives and grapes. The sun was always warm and the air was never bitter. A prosperous middle class had emerged and trading had never been better. All sorts of items ran to the capital and Florence grew by the day.

As a newly found first-world power, Tuscany was on the rise. It's borders stretched from the Po river in the north to the Sahara in the south. From Barcelonia in the west, to Messina in the east. The doge, Guiliano de Medici, basked in the prosperity of his nation, but he also wanted to expand it like his forefathers. In fact, his aspiritations were to be the best doge in Florence's history.

Many people came to his court and asked for high positions showing how wise they were. Some got positions, others didn't. Then a person named Morpheus came along and he asked for the job of the chief advisor. Ever since that person named Bocaj left, that position had been left unfilled. Morpheus was wise and his recent work in Siberia earned him a great title. He also was a master military commander, something that Guiliano desperately wanted. So he was hired and Guiliano liked him more everyday...

(OOC: I gave the save game to Morpheus who will continue this AAR. I probably will occasionly do certain IC posts to fill it out, but Morpheus will be doing the meaty bits.)

Just a quick question to readers:
Since I have now taken this thread over, do you think I should keep with the advisor-king conversation style or switch to the present-tense textbook thingy style that I've used in the Sibir AAR?

You could do the style of your Steppes AAR and I could do IC posts on you being the advisor? I don't know, sorry Morpheus, I didn't think about that.;)

This looks funny. Bocaj giving up the game to Morpheus506 and both of them posting;)

And Morpheus506 I thnik you can do both if you want. or if I have to pick I would go for the style you got in the Steppes:D

Ok, since no one has objected to the Steppes style, I think I'll go with that. Seeing as my Sibir game crashed and I don't want to redo what I did from the last save, I'll concentrate on this one a while.

First update in a day or two.

Greetings my friends. I am Morpheus, newly appointed Tuscan Minister of War And Other Stuff. In the interest of briefing you on the exact position of the Tuscan Empire at this time, here is a quick summary:

THE TUSCAN EMPIRE AS OF 3/1/09
Territory:
-Florence
-Luca
-Romagna
-Modena
-Emilia
-Tunisia (besieged by rebels)
-Kabylia
-Aures
-Tripolitania (under rebel control)
We also share half the the island of Sicily with the vile Turk. The Spanish provinces of Gerona and Catalonia, formerly under Tuscan control, were gifted back to Isabel y Fernando of Spain in the interest of repairing relations between us and the powerful kingdom.

Military:
Armies-
-Aures Regiment [2/0/0] - Aures
-Emilia Regiment [8/0/0] - Emilia
-Luca Regiment [4/0/0] - Luca
-Modena Regiment [13/0/0] - Tunisia

Navies-
-Kabylia Fleet [0/1/0] - Kabylia
-Modena Fleet [0/1/0] - Modena
-Romagna Fleet [0/1/0] - Romagna
-Romagna Fleet [2/1/8] - Tunisia
-Tunisia Fleet [0/2/0] - Kabylia

Relations:
In short, everyone hates us. Spain is neutral b/c of the return of Catalonia and Gerona, but everyone else thinks us as scum. This will have to be remedied if we are to get anywhere diplomatically.

We are also back in an alliance with Spain, Baden, Austria, Bohemia, Wurtemberg, The Palatinat, and Hungary. A powerful force, if used wisely, methinks...

Unfortunately, this power is hard to use at the time. No good targets for conquest have presented themselves. A logical choice would be the Papal States, who, unlike my predecessor, I have no stipulation to avoid conflict with the seat of Catholicism. Their allies are Prussia and the Teutonic Order, which are quite far away and incapable of attacking us. Unfortunately, the Pope himself commands an army of 67,000 men in Rome. Another choice would be friendless Genoa, except for the massive fleet in the capital that would prevent a landing on Corsica. Venice is also out for both previous reasons, and Milan is allied to Savoy, and I would not want to face more than one nation at once. It seems that Piero and I will have to wait until an opportunity presents itself.

1509
My first official act as Minister of War and Other Stuff is to respond to the rebel capture of Tunisia. The army attempting to take out the rebels there is beaten, and retreats to Kabylia. I order the Aures Regiment to leave its post and move to rendezvous with the Romagna Regiment and authorize the recruitment of 2000 more halberdiers in Tunis.

In April, our efforts to remove the stain of rebellion from North Africa fail. Tripolitania and Tunisia, both controlled by rebels, band together to reform the Hafsid Empire. On the same day, the engineer in command of our military research, Quinteri Corleone of Messina, "Q" for short, sends me a letter explaining the detailed maneuvers of artillery support. Even though we have no artillery in the entire army, I decide that this is as good a time as any to take command of the army personally.

When called upon, our allies perform miserably. All of them leave us, but this gives us the opportunity to create a new Spanish, Tuscan, Genoese, Hungarian, and Bohemian Alliance. Austria is left on its lonesome, not wanting to be the first to join an alliance with a "loser Italian country." This insult was overheard by our ambassador while he was listening at the keyhole of the Austrian Council meeting to decide whether or not to rejoin [random event- diplomatic insult]. We will have to show them their place.......

On April 6th, my ship arrives in Kabylia, and I take command of the army there. Our scouts report that the only Hafsid army of one thousand men is already on its way to Kabylia, and I decide that it is the wisest choice to stay put and prepare for battle.

5 days later, an emissary from Georgia arrives in the presence of the doge. He offers the hand of the crown princess of Georgia in marriage to the Doge's brother, the fourth duke of Luca. We accept, although the ambassador rejects our proposal to join the Tuscan Alliance. On the same day, we notice that our fleet in Tunisia had been driven out of port by the Hafsid Scum. The commodore in charge is ordered to make for Port Kabylia.

On May 1st, the garrison inside the city of Messina reports seeing 11,000 rebels rising up against the 4,000 Turkish troops in Sicily. Still bitter about the Turkish capture of the province, the Doge welcomes the Turk's misfortune with open arms.

The next day, the much-expected Hafsid army arrives in Kabylia, and is slaughtered to a man by the 6th. Then the army and I march on Tunisia. We also raise two thousand recruits in Messina. If the Sicilian rebels form their own independent nation, Piero hopes to conquer it before the Turk can land reinforcements to retake it.

The Grand Army lays siege to Tunisia on June 9, and the city surrenders one month later. Slightly late, reinforcements arrive from the mainland, nearly doubling the size of the Grand Army, but leaving Italy undefended. If we can wrap up this war, I plan to leave a small force to handle any rebellions, and transport the rest of the Grand Army back to Italy.

On July 11th, a group of disgruntled citizens in the capital approach the Doge. They say that unless something is done, they will revolt against the Tuscan government. Ever-resourceful, Piero offers them the offer to go overseas and start their own colony to govern as they like, as long as it stays in Tuscan possession. They accept, and a party of one hundred of them is sent to a little-known area on the coast of northwest Africa named Dakar, which was discovered through the swapping of maps with Spain, Portugal, and England.

On August 13th, the Grand Army arrives in Tripolitania and settles in for the siege. Aiding the siege in an indirect way are Q's new metal cannonballs. Because of the lack of cannon, these are being fired from mangonels, but they are still quite effective against the enemy fortifications.

In late September, a strangely-clad Persian ambassador appears in Florence, offering to exchange maps. The proposition of discovering what lies east of Persia is tempting, Piero and I agree that it is best to not let them know about the New World for now... perhaps later....

On October 16th, after an assault of the fortress of Tripoli, Tripolitania is ours. We quickly inform Sultan Mohammed V that his nation is once again part of Tuscany, and he is thrown in the dungeon once again.

On the 1st of November, a letter is given to me from Doge Piero. He has rewarded my efforts in subjugating the Hafsids and otherwise increasing the efficiency of the nation by giving me a promotion and a large plot of land in Luca. My full title now is Count Morpheus of Luca, Tuscan Minister of War and Other Stuff and Commander of the Tuscan Grand Army.

1510
On February 1st, the Persian ambassador reappears in Florence, with the same offer as before. This time we accept, and gain much knowledge of India and the Steppes, including a nation named Sibir, which seems oddly familiar...

In mid-March, the hundred disgruntled Tuscans that were sent to Dakar were reported missing. They just never arrived! Another hundred, determined to succeed where their predecessors failed, take ship for their potential colony.

On September 11th, 1510, the colonists arrive in Dakar and start the foundations of a great city, and 100 more head straight there.

On November 9th, the Sicilian rebels take the fortress in Sicily. The small (14K) army in Messina braces itself in case the rebels decide to try for the whole island.....

1511
On January 8th, two things happen. First, the colony in Dakar expands. Second, the rebels in Sicily have finally turned on Messina. The Messina Garrison, now 19K and rising, clears an area in which to do battle and begins to wait.

On January 29th, the rebels attack the Messina Garrison. During the battle, an event that has not been seen in Tuscany since the Hafsid rebellions occurs: Romagna revolts. The gathering Emilia Garrison prepares to meet the 7000 rebels' challenge.

On March 15th, the Romagnan rebels are utterly destroyed, and Tuscany is washed clean of the stain of rebellion.

On the fourth of May, a drastic ripple of unconformity sweeps the globe. A german named Martin Luther has renounced the Church and started his own branch of Christianity, called Lutheranism or Protestantism. The Doge sees wisdom in his words, and tells me that the Tuscan Empire may well embrace this theology in time...

NOOOO!! I finally got my game back for one day, and half the files are corrupted... including this one. The Siberian game is still up and running though, and I will not let it die!

Already got an update up.
