I'm fine with certain aspects being pared back for future DLC, but I'll be pissed if a lot of the RPG elements of CKII DLC get pulled. As someone whose really into micromanaging my court I really dig the features of Way of Life, The Conclave, Monks & Mystics & Holy Fury brought to the table. I can live without Jade Empire, Horselords & The Republic day one though.

From the current screenshots it looks like they're ramping up the RPG elements. We've got months of DD's coming up though to find out what's happening.

I recall muslims were playable in CK. But maybe that was mods?

Yeah, those were mods. In base CK1, only Christians are playable. Muslims, Jews and Pagans are present, but not playable in any way whatsoever.

Personally, I'd expect that if CK2-CK3 transition will be similar to CK1-CK2 transition, CK3 at release would have all religions playble from the start, even if their gameplay mechanics are completely copied from CK2 with no refinements whatsoever.

If you ever played The Sims, you know how it works: every iteration of the series removes all or almost all of the features added through expansions to the previous title, and then starts adding them back, remixing them slightly. So you basically buy the same things over and over again. Do you think CKIII will have The Sims syndrome?
EU4 launched with pretty much every flavour event and decision from EU3 (except for the ones that didn't fit in), and there's no reason to expect anything different here. CK3 will likely launch with everything CK2 had except for the stuff that didn't work out.

This game is gonna be Ck version of Imperator. For long Paradox products are becoming more and more of bad quality.
people like you are such whiners. you always assume the worst and never believe anything can be good. why even bother posting this?

Nobody is going to not buy this game on day 2 if the day 1 reviews are universally positive, but people who pre-ordered Stellaris and Imperator got burned pretty hard.

and this game isn't made by the people who made those games, it has a different dev team and they've learned. the game also has already had a longer development cycle than imperator, and unlike Imperator and Stellaris, it has a base to build off of in CK2. there's no way it will come out barebones and empty, they already have stated it has more than CK2 had on release

Well I'll be a (happy, satisfied, gladly proven wrong) fool on day 2 if I'm wrong, and I will be no worse for wear if I'm right. Even better, I may well prod the developers to do something differently (EU4 has a long history of this, another notable mention is fuel in HoI or the famous three dev diaries in Imperator).

Well if you negative Nancy's did some research and watched the stream for all info it seems Imperator Rome was started in q1 2018 on an already existing engine. CK3 was known as Project Titus and seems to have been in development since atleast 2017. Furthermore we can safely say that most things like Muslims, Holy Fury free patch and all things free patches added throughout the game as depth will be part of the game.

The only Dlcs that will probably not be base game are:
Jade Dragon
Monks & Mystics
The Reapers Due
Horselords
Charlemagne
& The Republic

Why not these? Well because they had issues with them or had certain reasons for being there.

Base game seems to be focused on realism so Monks and Mystics is out. Reapers due is more flavour things and may be reworked into a future dlc. Jade Dragon will probably be replaced with a China Expansion fully. The reason it never was part of ck2 was because it was too demanding.
Horselords will be similar, with their statements of excluding nomads. Mongols will be base game but probably less featured. Charlemagne had major issues because of the early startdate and lack of historical sources and thus will be skipped but the 800s startdate is in already so that means old gods isn't required as a dlc. They announced no merch republics so the republic is out.

I think it's fine if they release similar subject expansion packs: an expansion themed around China, an expansion themed around Crusades, etc.

What I'm dreading is the paywall for existing CKII features. If not all religions are playable on CKIII's release, for example, I'll be pretty angry.

they already said everything on the map is playable besides nomads (which will be treated as tribal and playable) and merchant republics (because they don't like the implementation from CK2). so you can play as every religion at release

You guessed it, boys. SUNSET INVASION CONFIRMED FOR CKIII.
