Thomas W. Hill - 09.10 AM - Manhattan / New York City

`Assholes`, Thomas thought and spit out. He was sitting at the western end of Watts Street on the Hudson River Greenway and cursed his fate. On their way to the Evac Point they got into another firefight and lost more men, among them Captain Howards. And then, all out of a sudden, TCOM fired its EDS. Two hours too late. If these morons would be here, he would shoot them right in the face. 80% of his squad was lost. They would surely not have to write the letters to the relatives.

Two hours earlier, and the Evacuation could have gained more time. The enemy would have suffered more casualties. But so everything was lost and one could only try to save as many people in as short a time possible.

`Morons.`

When they got to the Evac Point, communication was established again. But that only revealed the sheer scope of the disaster. All friendly units were severely beaten and scattered all across southern Manhattan. One tried hard to build new units out of the remaining forces and establish a new hierarchy. But everything took time.

He found himself as new commander of such a patchwork unit. His squad was reduced to himself and three of his soldiers, since Wayans died. Then there were the remnants of Captain Howards squad of 9th Battalion, 11 soldiers, five of them with light wounds. Then another 15 soldiers from 3rd Battalion. There was a SEAL Team of five people lurking around at the Evac Point. Originally they were intended to attack vital enemy targets, but since the situation went downhill too fast, they never received orders. Finally there were 30 armed civilians. It was not difficult to equip them, since too many servicemen had died, but everyone was a bit too low on ammo. He had requested supplies, but only God knew if they would get some. Hence he had send out a few people to gather ammo from the dead. Horrid, but necessary.

So, all in all he had 35 soldiers and 30 civilians and he was supposed to hold the block from the Greenway to the corner Watts and Washington street. The SEALS were on the roofs to keep an eye on the situation. He had decided to split his group in two 25 men squads, each half soldiers and half civilians. The civilians had no clue, but were good enough to provide suppression fire, so the soldiers could move and target enemies properly. Finally ten men served as reserve and could fill gaps in the other two groups.

He stood up and took a look southward. It was suspiciously calm right now. The Aliens had realized, that they suffered casualties after the activation of the EDS. Probably they did the same as the Earthlings. Reorganize and prepare for the next assault. Thomas saw, how cars were pushed across the street to serve as roadblock and cover.

Private Gallagher approached him.

"Sir, we have instructed the civilians as good as we can in the short period of time."
"Don`t worry, nobody is expecting a miracle."
"When do we get evacuated?"
"I have no idea."

Thomas activated the headset.

"Alright, men. The improvised HQ told me, that our callsign is Tango Force. I am Tango One. The squad at the West Street is Tango Alpha and the squad at Watts and Washington is Tango Bravo. The reserve squad is Tango Charlie and the SEALS Tango Delta. Stay calm, take cover, monitor the situation. If you see anything suspicious, report it immediately. In case the Evacuation Order is given, we will fall back to the designated position. Wounded are evacuated first, then civilians, then servicemen. Good luck to you."

James Fortney - 0905 Romeo - Manhattan, New York City (Church Rally Point)

TCOM-Alpha: "Its good hear from you commander. We were assuming the worst before we received coordinates from yours and SqCom Hill's emergency transmission system. The situation is as follows, New York City is being abandoned. The bomb run scheduled at 01000 is changed, the president is ordering a tactical nuclear strike against several targets making up the centres of the enemy's advance. Los Angeles was struck by an ICBM twenty minutes ago. Our intelligence reports show a eighty five percent reduction in contacts in Southern California. Enemy elements continue to land and disperse troops in two dozen large zones in North America. All of these are designated for nuclear strikes within the next twelve hours.

New York City is scheduled for 01200. TFOD will be evacuated by the USS Alexandria at the Hudson Evac Point-03 in one hour. Commander Hill established the Watts Rally Point at the Broome and Watts Street intersection. Our electromagnetic disruption system is assisting in the defense of that evac point until TFOD is out of the area. We only have forty three minutes of charge so that will be your timeframe."

Fortney: "Charlie Mike. TFOD moving west toward Watts Rally Point."

Fortney turned to his SqCommanders. The EDS had saved them from the onslaught and even dispersed the enemy away from the area. For the first time in three hours they were able to rest for a moment and regroup. "Alright commanders, we gotta get to Watts, commander Hill managed to link up with US Army elements at the evac point. Jackson, whats the status on our new recruits?"

"We managed to gather up 30 civies and 24 Army infantry. They're shook up but ready to get the hell out of here!"

Updated stats and news coming soon

Thomas W. Hill - 09.20 AM - Manhattan / New York City

Thomas had to swallow involuntarily, when HQ told him the last news. Nuclear option. Surely, things went bad recently, but that bad?

He looked around. A last time. In roughly 2.5 hours this would be turned into a radioactive wasteland. New York City gone. Anyone not out of harms way by noon would stay here. Forever. And nobody lucky enough to escape could return to his or her home for the rest of his life. Just like these poor sods in Los Angeles.

He decided to not tell his unit about it. It would distract and probably depress them. Not the proper feelings for what was coming up. But silently he wondered, how much of America would be left, even if they could stop the invasion.

Name: Anthony L. Prescott

Age: 26

Class: Sniper

Desired Position: Sniper, 1st squad, 2nd Rifle Platoon

Background: Anthony Prescott graduated high school at the age of sixteen, after which he attended Case Western Reserve University where he studied psychology. After earning his master’s degree he joined the marines. After two years in the corps he took the training course to become a Force Recon Scout Sniper. Unlike most of the other marines, Anthony found the training to come naturally to him.

Following his training, Anthony was deployed to Afghanistan where he carried out several operations, and became known for his ability to deliver precise, long-range fire on selected targets. Anthony found himself to be particularly skilled at creating terror among the enemy forces he engaged by applying his understanding of human psychology. Apart from his spotter, he spent most of his time alone, usually reading during his free time.

Eight months ago, after a number of successful assignments, he was approached by representatives of the Tengu Project and asked to join. Finding himself extremely interested by what he had been told, he agreed. During the time between joining the project and being deployed to New York, Anthony familiarized himself with the advanced technology as well as his new spotter, Melissa Porter.

Since arriving in New York Anthony and Melissa have largely been operating separately from the rest of the TFOD, providing fire support when applicable and studying the alien forces and their reactions to combat.

Stats are updated. Just a heads up, this scenario is something of a practice run so I can see how this is going to go. In coming scenarios i'm going to add options for commanders hopefully we'll have some more recruits soon. Stats are updated, now im going to type up the next engagement and maybe post tonight otherwise expect it tomorrow.

Remember you can be foreign troopers, TCOM was a NATO-American project.

Engagement Three - Ugg Ugg Troopers! - 01000 Romeo (Manhattan, New York City)

120252.jpg

Its morning but eh its a cool image

The utilizing of the Electromagnetic Disruption System against the alien forces was astoundingly successful although too limited to stop the inevitable destruction of New York City let alone the world. However it had bought time, the entire lower side of Manhattan saw retreating waves of enemies for twenty or so minutes before they quickly regrouped and began their advance forth. The vast majority of the enemies engaged so far had been automated troopers possessing biomechanical technology but the bulbous head were lurking with them, their purpose was not known.

During the lull hundreds of soldiers limpt out of the burning ruins behind them. Absorbed by the evac point command, a colonel who had been fighting the good fight but was anxious to get the hell out of the city. Preparations were quickly made for renewed contact with the enemy that was inevitable. Vehicle barriers, reorganizing at least as best as possible considering the circumstances established a defense perimeter around the evac point where the submarines were ferrying refugees to the 5th Defense Zone centered around Baltimore which had yet to engage the aliens.

Fortney's troops arrived around 01000, his force in decent shape, heavy weapons had lost over half of their number but they had the most survivors. At Watts TFOD had taken up the southern line with Fortney fortifying Tango Bravo. The colonel in charge of the evac point was not in TFOD's chain of command, orders came directly from TFOD. The USS Alexandria was eighty minutes away and the enemy was advancing surely intent on wiping out the makeshift stronghold on the Hudson.

Hudson Evac Stronghold
5,000 US Army Elements
Morale: Shaken
Equipment: 47%
The assault can be withstanding by this force for an estimated one hour. EDS is recharging and is not available for six hours.

TFOD must survive for 80 minutes. This will be a die roll gauntlet with options available to players.

Tactical Situation

Sq Commander Hill has been promoted to commander of 1nd Rifle Platoon. You are free to deploy and roleplay your troops freely (and realistically). Your tactics and strategy will have consequences so plan carefully.

Fortney's 2nd Rifle and 1st Heavy Platoon will reinforce Bravo Force.

Roleplay coming, interaction between Hill and Fortney.

James Fortney - 01010 Romeo - Manhattan, New York City

An entire city that took over a century to build was in ruins in a matter of hours. Fortney had taken on the job out of curiosity and then they found out that they were coming and in force. It became a project whose survival was dependent on its success. The plan was to test out the unit of course but it was also something greater. But now he and his brothers in arms faced the advance of the enemy who had handedly defeated human militaries across the planet in hours. It was time now to survive, the future of humanity depended on their success, this was just the beginning.

"Sir, visual on enemy elements by our scouts. They should be here in five minutes." the stoic medic, Weiss reported, he thought that his girlfriend was surely dead in Germany.

"Alright troops, we got eighty minutes until we're off this island. Evac command have made a corridor for us they have been ordered to defend us to the death. Lets do the best we can for them and when we get out of here we'll make sure their sacrifices are worth our continued existence. Ugg Ugg."

15 Minutes Later

"Commander Hill excellent work out there. How are you holding up?"

Thomas W. Hill - 10.25 AM - Manhattan / New York City

For the first time in the last hours Thomas smiled when he saw Commander Fortney and the remnants of his units suddenly appearing near Bravo.

“Hello, Commander.”, Thomas said.
"Commander Hill, excellent work out there. How are you holding up?", Fortney asked.
“What can I say? It is a bloody mess. Have you heard something about the evacuation plan?”
“The USS Alexandria is supposed to appear on 11.30 to get us out.”
“One hour?”

Thomas looked to the sky. Just when he thought that he would get out here alive. Another hour and the enemy assault was incoming. Well…

“Commander. With your unit we have roughly one company under our command. I suggest the following deployment. I will command Tango Alpha on West Street with my squad (4), the first Heavy Weapon squad (5), the remnants of the 9th Battalion (11), 5 soldiers of the 3rd Battalion and 10 civilians. That` s 35 men.

You should command Tango Bravo here at the corner Washington and Watts with the 2nd Rifle Platoon (8), second Heavy Weapon squad (12), 5 soldiers of the 3rd Battalion and 10 civilians. That`s also 35 men.

The remaining 5 soldiers of 3rd Battalion and 10 civilians will be Tango Charlie. They can serve as reserve and get the wounded out in the initial stage. The five SEALS are Tango Delta above our heads on the roof to keep us informed and maybe get a few nice shots on the enemy, if they have the same idea to use the roofs.

But, to be frank, with the EDS gone we will never be able to hold for another hour. Unless we get more men from the Evac Point. There are still a lot of servicemen not being assigned to units. If we order some of them now, we might be able to have enough firepower. You are more senior than me, so please do your best to get some support. I will organize our troops here.”

Thomas had no reason to smile anymore. They stood with the back against the wall. No room for maneuvers. They would have to be stubborn. He told two civilians in Alpha and Bravo each to stay close to him and Fortney, so they could serve as messengers, in case the communication would fail again. They had arranged as much cover as possible and some of his soldiers on the greenway left of West Street even managed to dig in. Maybe enough to hold the enemy off long enough. Maybe.

Gunnery Sergeant Anthony Prescott – 1027 – Manhattan, New York City

Anthony quietly stepped out of the stairwell, onto the abandoned tenth floor of an office building on West Street. Cubicles were empty, papers littered the aisles, many of the computers were left on. “Looks like a bomb went off in here, huh?” Anthony hiked his rifle higher on his shoulder and moved his way through the obstacle course of tipped over chairs and fallen cubicle walls.

Melissa Porter scoffed as she swept the room with the barrel of her rifle, searching for any hidden threats. “Eh, not for another hour or so, though it will probably look worse than this when it does.”

“I imagine you’re right. You think we’re killing more of them or more of ourselves with this nuke?” As he spoke Anthony slipped his K-16 off of his shoulder and laid prone in front of one of the broken out windows, careful not to cut himself on the shards of glass. He smiled slightly as he took in the view. He could see straight down West Street for more than a mile, just like he had hoped.

Melissa sat down next to him and leaned back against a desk as she set her A-19 aside and pulled her spotter scope from her backpack. “It’s got to be more of us. How many people got out of the city, one, two million? I just hope it’s worth it.”

As she began searching the road for aliens Anthony ran a quick systems check on his rifle. He had a fresh mag, safety was on, the aim was calibrated. Once he finished he looked back to Melissa. “Any echos?”

She simply raised her eyebrow as she looked at him. “‘Echos’?”

Anthony laughed a little and chambered a round before he flicked off the safety. “Well, we’re tango’s apparently, why not echos? Enemies, Extraterrestrials, whatever you like.”

Melissa took her turn to laugh. “Works for me. No echos yet though, at least not here. We’ve got men from tango alpha digging in left of the greenway about a block up the road though. Delta has overwatch on Watts and Washington, right?”

Anthony looked through his scope to the soldiers of alpha as they prepared their defense. “I hope so. I’d rather we didn’t have to cover everyone. We should report in.” After a brief pause Anthony reached into his pack and pulled out a radio. “Commander Hill, we’re in position. No enemy sightings on West yet, but we’re keeping our eyes peeled. Unless you need something else we’re going silent. Over.”

Commander Thomas W. Hill - 10.28 AM - Manhattan / New York City

“Copy that.”, Thomas said. He had just left Fortney and was going back to Alpha Squad, when the report from Prescott came in. Good news.

On his way he looked to the sky. Of course two snipers could not repel a whole assault coming down West Street. But together with the SEALS they could make sure, that the roofs in their sector would stay clean and the ground forces would not have to be worried about threats from above. And if they are able to make a few hits on the ground, he would not complain about it.

When he arrived at West Street, he took a look down southward. Everything was prepared as good as possible. They have had 1.5 hours to get ready and he had a nagging feeling, that the break would be over soon.

OOC: My laptop is out of commission until this weekend. Im using a work computer currently. So expect updates on Sunday (unless the USA-Portugal game is on before that happens in which case i'll be shooting for Monday)

OOC: So my laptop needs a new hard drive and geek squad wants to charge me 400 bucks to replace it. So today I have to get a harddrive and replace it myself ugg. I'm still motivated to continue the game but it might be a few days since this will be my first hard drive replacement. I also need to get my music production and the OS X software installed which will take quite a bit of time.

Fortunately we get hour and 1/2 lunches so I may be able to provide an update during my lunch break.

Engagement Three - 01035 Romeo - Manhattan, New York

Five thousand soldiers stood guard protecting the incoming civilians and wounded hoping to escape the once great metropolis that they had called home. Their objective was to defend the Hudson Evac Point until they were able to withdraw themselves or until death. The mood of the troops at their positions was of grim determination. They now knew that there existed a force capable of fighting the aliens on relatively equal ground and this gave them some hope. Ruins surrounded them, many of the skyscrapers of the city had fallen or were burning like a hundred nine elevens. It was a positive though that now the enemy would be hard pressed to find any high ground or any clearances in the rubble as most roofs and streets were covered in debris, this would slow their advance it was hoped.

TFOD had deployed on the southern flank where enemy elements appeared more cautious. The bulk of the enemy force were coming from the north and east and their commander, James Fortney had decided to hold the southern line due to its relative proxmity to the USS Alexandria's arrival point and weakened presence of the aliens in the area. The EDS had directly affected the enemy there and it was though by conventional thinking that their assault would be significantly weakened here. The US Army had organized its remnent forces along what was once Barrow and 7th Streets while TFOD defended Watts and West Streets. If the submarine fleet somehow was unable to reach Lower Manhattan a desparate plan b was to escape via the Holland Tunnel and abandon New York on foot but of course the effects of radiation and the possible arrival of enemy reinforcements made that option nearly suicidal.

Nonetheless the remnents of the US Army and TFOD that for all they knew stood alone in Manhattan made visual on enemy elements at 01035 Romeo.

Barrow Street Line

First contact was made as expected along the Barrow Street Line. A wave of hundreds of the alien biomechanical drones approached army elements. Mortar arounds, heavy machine guns, whatever was left of the mechanized force engaged immediately once the enemy were in range. Their soldiers blowing to pieces the enemy wave struggling through the mass of debris. Their firepower was surprisingly effective killing many of the enemy. Many of the alien soldiers were forced to find cover and return fire initiating a firefight across the Barrow line for twenty minutes.
Die Roll...1 (0 KIA)
Gradually though the alien firepower began to cut up the Barrow line and new heavier alien weapons made their debut. The bulbous heads appeared with high powered energy weapons that caused gravitational disturbances across the no mans land. Their blasts blowing APCs and tanks apart. Dozens of human troops were now dying every minute.
Die Roll...2 (150 KIA, 300 wounded)
The bulbous heads were quite effective and their drones restarted their advanced primarily on the right side of the Barrow line. Many human troops were dying and the mortar crews could no longer provide assistance as the enemy force was too close to that side of the line. The fighting grew in ferocity along the line as on the left side the enemy took advantage of their devestating firepower and began to press forward.
Die Roll...3 (300 KIA, 500 wounded)

7th Street Line

Contact was made shortly after the Barrow line. The 7th Street line was defending more territory than their comrades on Barrow and so had the majority fo their left over heavy firepower. Mortars, heavy weaponry, and so forth ripped apart the approaching alien force. The ruins here were dense and the explosions from human shells were breaking up the alien advance and killing many of the enemy.
Die Roll...1 (0 KIA)
The 7th Street line continued to throw everything they had against the enemy. Fire did not seem to harm the drones but explosions did. Alien soldiers halted and found cover awaiting the assistance of the bulbous heads. However they did not arrive as quickly as they had done at Barrow. A protracted firefight began.
Die Roll...2 (90 KIA, 150 wounded)
Finally the bulbous heads arrived with their energy weapons but the gravitational disturbances caused by their weapons caused confusion among their own force. Drones were scattered into the air leading to a turkey shoot by human guns. Human shells pounded the enemy in a deafening roar.
Die Roll...3 (50 KIA, 90 wounded)

Barrow Street Line

While 7th St line was holding their own the Barrow force were being pressed hard. Soon requests for reinforcements were being sent via messenger as the gravity disturbances were interfering with radio communication. The order came through to fight to the death.
Die Roll...4 (200 KIA, 600 wounded)
Enemy troops reached the right flank instigating a terrifying and dazzling firefight. Fortunately the Colonel of the Army remnents had planted C-4 and other explosives in the main corridors of the line in which he ordered to be set off. The explosions vent a massive cloud of debris into the air and the shockwaves through human and alien soldiers into the air.
Die Roll...5 (500 KIA, 1000 wounded)
This halted the enemy advance on the right flank but many soldiers had been sacrificed. The drons on the left flank halted once more and the bulbous heads seemed content on bombarding the left flank from a distance yet they were too far to cause much damage.
Die Roll...6 (100 KIA, 300 wounded)

Watts Line

Enemy elements emerged thirty minutes after contact was made on the east and north lines. Their advance was much more cautious but also not as unhindered as their compatriots to the north. Once they were in range the order was given to launch MicroNukes against them. The explosions were powerful and created large holes in the alien force.
Die Roll...(0 KIA)
However they continued their advance with the aid of bulbous heads

Shall be continued hopefulyl today or tomorrow.

OOC: Sorry, but I quit. As I said, a nice writing excercise, but not enough to do. I am working on an own Alien Invasion concept. Maybe you are in to take command of a USMC Regiment.
