I'm wondering what the chanses are to have the text.csv changed back to what it was earlier (as standard text.csv in 1.05 and 1.07). For the moment it takes a long time to start the game with EEP. It does run at a good speed later, but the startup is very slow.

Funny, my systems not a jet screamer, and I haven't noticed a difference in performance. I wonder what he's running? And if anyone else has noticed this?

I've noticed it as well on my Win98 system. EEP takes longer to load than vanilla GC, but once loaded, the game runs just as fast.

It is so that it doesn't take 20 or so seconds to load. It runs fine but it is annoying to have to wait 20 seconds for the game to start. It is the drawback when the text.csv is arranged as it is in EEP. One can live with it but it would be nice if EEP started as fast as the standard game.

I never noticed this before, but then I've never really looked. So, this wasn't a problem under 1.4? So for definite, its the addition of the new lines?

Also, what do you mean by this:

It is the drawback when the text.csv is arranged as it is in EEP.

I noticed in 1.4. I did not try the previous versions of EEP.

lofman, you're suggesting that the EEP should run under the default text.csv?

If this is causing the long load up time it does warrant some attention. The problem will be putting ALL the event descriptions in the event files. There are a lot of descriptions that are too long, and it will be a fair amount of work to rewrite them.

How do you know that the problem comes from text.csv? I mean if that is the root of the load up time it's a critically important piece of information.

Then the only problem would be, that not only event texts are in the text.csv. New countries names and descriptions are also in the text.csv, so using the default isn't really an option. If anything it would be more like 'hey, we need a text.csv that works in moddir without causing long load up times'.

D'oh.

I know it is the text.csv as I tried without it and it loaded as fast as normal. Though it is more annoying with Xhosa in North Africa and a bunch of User Defined Nations all over the place than waiting some extra seconds to start the game. ;)

The problem is the way the text is arranged in the file. I think that the standard text.csv was arranged in this way in 1.06 (which I never downloaded, went directly from 1.05 to 1.07) but was changed back in time for 1.07. I think it was because it made the game load slower.

And on a slightly different matter. I vaguely recollect Tlemcen having a description in 1.2.5, but in 1.4.1 it is the old Xhosa description. Do I remember wrong or was the Tlemcen description lost?

It was lost. Its now listed as a bug though.

XHO_DESC;The Zayyanid Dynasty founded its capital at Tlemcen(in modern-state of Algeria). For over 300 years, the Zayyanids had a tenuous hold on central Maghrib. The regime was plagued by frequent rebellions but learned to survive as the vassal of the Merinids and later the Hafsids. At one time Tlemcen acted as an ally of Spain. Many coastal cities defied the ruling dynasties and asserted their autonomy as municipal republics. They were governed by their merchant oligarchies, by tribal chieftains from the surrounding countryside, or by the privateers who operated out of their ports. Nonetheless, Tlemcen prospered as a commercial center and was called the 'pearl of the Maghrib'. Tlemcen would eventually be devastated by the Spanish and later, conquered by the Ottomans.;;;;;;;;;;1573

Had the old installation file for 1.2.5 lying around, so I installed in the documents folder and recovered this.
