Europe will greatly fear and work against Elysian Portugal. Different choice for Cahokia would be Sanctus Ludovicus. I can imagine that Cahokia would get a Roman Carthage treatment. Thanks
Portugal might not seem like it, but they can punch far above their weight. They are easily the most important ally to Elysia since they are indirectly the Empire's gateway into Europe via trade and diplomacy, so keeping them aligned with Elysia is pivotal.Europe will greatly fear and work against Elysian Portugal. I usually tend to roleplay and come up with ideas during the playthrough, although the beginning and the end usually have some level of planning behind them. Especially towards the endings, as they tend to be far more ambitious than what EU4 can usually portray. Like most AARs of mine, this is no different. What I have planned is going to become highly narrative and less gameplay-orientated, but the core elements are still there.I don't really have anything to comment on the writing right now, still enjoying this new iteration of the "Elysiad" but rather I have a question. What are some of your methods for writing these tales?
Do you jot down some initial thoughts while playing through the campaign?
I mainly ask because I'm curious to whether you decide the trajectory of the story before of after a completed campaign.
Did you decide to impart your ambitions on the rulers or did you try and roleplay a bit. Trying to follow some of their potential aspirations? (Given yours and their's are one and the same)
Arkadia is dominated by the Portuguese and Castilians since Elysia had locked the Europeans out of Elysia proper. Its less of a colony and more of a battlefield between the colonial powers in establishing a foothold on the continent. More will be explained in future chapters.Congrats on seizing Cahokia!
Will Spartania ever enter into a personal union with Elysia? Is that a long term Elysian goal?
What does Arkadia (South America) look like right now? Also, there are no European colonies that share a continent with Elysia, right?
Thank you for your support! I've got much more planned to go ahead. The foundation for Elysian success is being built during this century as it eclipses everything within its reach. Things are going to snowball during the 17th Century into an avalancheJust spent the last week reading through your AAR. It's been ages since I've tried the Third Odyssey mod, but the concept of the Byzantines fleeing across the Atlantic in a desperate bid at survival is a fascinating one. It's certainly been an interesting read so far, and I look forward to seeing Elysia continue its dominance of the New World.
Spartania conquered all of Mesoamerica while turning the rest of the region into vassals. Religiously, the area is almost completely Christianised except the northern frontier and Central America. While it's unified politically, and culturally it's all over the place. It will do an Index chapter in the future about Spartania and the wider Lakonian peninsular.Turning the natives against each other is certainly a strategy that has been working for Elysia.
Just how much of Mesoamerica has Spartania conquered? Are there any other nations left there?
They certainly tried, but Elysia would take the Kykladies before they gained an interest in creating their colonies. It would be fortunate that the Europeans were far more interested in fighting among themselves, otherwise, had they gained a position in the Kykladies, war would have certainly occurred over control of it.Congrats on your expansion! The Navajo and the Apache are probably happy with their decision to become Elysia's vassals, given all of the new territory that they're getting.
Did any of the European powers express interest or establish outposts on the Kykladian Isles?
Culturally distant but somewhat related. Religiously, pretty much identical aside from Elysia and Spartania having two independent churches.Basilissa Maria is probably the most powerful woman on the planet not just in the western hemisphere. How close are the culture and religion of Elysia and Spartania? 5 to 20 transports, is a small naval invasion planned? Thanks
The Personal Union is very nice, in addition to Spartania focusing far more inward than outward. Combined with Elysia, the Empire now stretches from Maine to Panama. It's a special kind of colossus now.Maria is going to have a lot of pressure on her to have an impressive reign, what with being the first empress of Elysia. Fortunately Elysia is already in a good state that she can build upon.
A personal union over Spartania is a nice development. If they keep expanding south, they'll greatly expand the empire once inherited.
Skythia is the Great Plains. The OTL native inhabitants are largely assimilated into the Empire, while in-game, the Lakota have migrated northward I believe. It's nice to see that Elysia will finally have its own equivalent to the Hagia Sophia.
RIP Demetrius, and long live Maria I and Elysia-Spartania! What world-changing acts will she do? Is Elysia-Spartania moving on to a reclamation of Europe?
Skythia is OTL's Great Plains, right? What happened to the OTL native inhabitants of the region, like the Lakota?
I am amazed at the quickness of the expansion versus OTL. The military can (will need to, if fighting Europeans) expand without reaching force limits. I will read whatever works best for YOU! Thank you for every word that you share with us.
It's nice to see a state of the empire update.
How true is the Inquisition's insistence that they're only persecuting people guilty of heresy? I find it hard to believe that no one's ever been falsely accused.
Do what you want to do in regard to the burnout... this AAR is good, and a Roman Restoration AAR sounds fun, but I personally think that AARs should be written for personal enjoyment of their authAARs first. And perhaps you'll gain more creative inspiration later... hiatuses are fine. We'll still be here.
I've decided that in light of fundamental changes in my life, and to prevent creative burnout with this AAR, this story will be put on Hiatus until creative inspiration returns. I will be focusing on an entirely new story and I think pausing this story here will be good in the long run. This is not the end of this story, far from it.I'm curious if the regional cultures the mod seems to make as you expand will have an impact on that cultural makeup of Elysia.
I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing burnout. Happens to the best of us. As HistoryDude said, go with whatever you prefer, as you shouldn't feel compelled to do something for fun that isn't fun anymore. I also agree that you can always take a break and spread out updates when you have time to do them.
