Some more notes gained playing the USA:
- Vietnam map really needs to be divided into more areas. Being it one large "Indochina" I'm unable to use the airforce effectively, they constantly bomb wrong targets :(
- The USA lose LeMay (air doctrines) and Taylor at the end of the year 1964 and got no adequate replacements.

Once USA has access to Laos and CMB, they can use their airspaces. Taylor was extended. Thanks.

Yes, but but for example I wanted to bomb partisans in the middle of the South Vietnam, instead my arforce went nuts and bombed a Vietcong armor in the north. I'm really not experienced in editing maps, but I can try to create more areas. Until than my airforce will stay on ground. At least I can put my ICs to infantry :D

Edit: Behold! My great modding achievement! :)
Vietnam and surrounding countries now divided into more areas for effective air warfare:

I really have no knowledge about this part of the world, so I just created areas neatly randomly and assigned them names according to the most resourceful provinces. France was so kind to lend me its areas, so it is now a part of the Netherlands area :D
Well, I still have to test it.

Oh, I see what your are saying. I have never able been to pinpoint my air attacks. But I see how areas narrow it down. However, the Vietnam War weather was so bad that airforces only had a few days a month of good skys and many secondary targets were used. I imagine that's one of the reasons why B52s were used so much. So I won't get too narrow on my areas, but I did put in a few extra areas. Thanks!

Yes, also the land is not suitable for the airforce. However this way it is easier to actually use air units to support the army.

My testing works OK, so guess I'll upload my small modification in the evening.

New sprites and version 4.9

Added Basic Sprite Pack v1.0 for the Vietnam War Mod.

M-41 light-tank complete sprite and other basic 'stand' sprites for Vietnam and USA. Made for Vietnam version 4.9 but will work with version 4.8. Sprites are not relevant to earlier era scenarios!

Version 4.9 is ready for download. New units, energy secrets, and sprite compatability.

Very well made mod, drastically better than 1.0 - highly recommended.

I just want to say that this is one of the most entertaining scenarios I've ever played - despite losing! I chose South Vietnam, and actually did quite well. It is fun to be in such a desperate yet survivable condition right from the start.

After a few back and forth exchanges with the communists, I decided that Laos needed to be dealt with....bringing Thailand and the US into my alliance to better accomplish that goal. As a result, I annexed the Communist rebels, pushed the North Vietnamese back to the Chinese border, and accepted a peace treaty with Laos giving me the southern half of their country.

That treaty actually ended up being my undoing. I should have annexed them completely. The Tet Offensive fired, using Laos as a springboard. By 1969, North Vietnam and their new Soviet allies had conquered all of Southeast Asia (and half of Japan!). I used some cheap strategic withdrawal tactics to avoid being completely cut off near the Chinese border, but that only delayed the inevitable.

But yeah, tons of fun. Excellent work! I'm interested to see how all the new provinces affect game play in the other scenarios as well. The only thing I might suggest is giving slightly more IC to the minor nations outside of Vietnam itself - allowing them to produce some units of their own, since I don't *think* they get any by event.
