Ive played a trial game with Xan over hamachi... couldnt play over "local network", but everything went fine with connecting by direct IP... So, shall we schedule a game for friday?

Also, from that experience, id even propose making the game speed a lot faster with possibilities of players pausing when REALLY needed.

join to me on gameranger around 7 o'clock, more player more fun, i am almost always online there. lot of people r playing DH as well

I really need to pause after every finished reserach. :)

Most do, but thats a pause of about... 7-8 seconds? And thats the only thing pretty much id allow a pause for. Everything else can be done real time.

Trust me, on under normal speed the game will take forever... I believe our game lasted over an hour, we got 6 months in...

I just checked the autosave and we got to the 1 july of 1937 after 1.5 hours of play, mostly at normal speed sometimes with very fast(when nothing was happening) so i think during peacetime higher speed is okay. During wars normal should be the .. norm. As for friday that sounds good to me.

Id even make it thursday :) If ur up for it Xan :) Of course, everybody else is welcome to join too - Sword, Ghery perhaps? Im free most of thursday except in the evening (after 7 PM CET (thats 6 GMT) im busy)... So whenever u guys r ready, we can just meet up on skype

As for gameranger - ill c if it works... if it will require the same amount of fine-tuning as hamachi did, ill just forgo it for now.

It's much like Hamachi in the background as far as I understand these utilities, but a lot more user friendly. It's been designed to host and join games. When everybody's ready the host clicks start and the next thing will be aruging in the lobby on rules and who chooses who. ;)

BTW Thursday might be fine for me. For Sword it'd be late night (around 3 am) so I think he's out.

I've signed up to Gameranger.

O-kay... so time to gimme the stuff, man. I need... a... game... of... FODD!

Starting Thursday at Noon is a no-go for me since ill be home at 7pm (gmt+1) at the earliest... friday is free though. I want to ask you guys to wait till friday.
Oh and i might have one more guy that may join in. Oh and Sword could you update your first post?

My ISP went offline, no internet - im writing this from a laptop, hooked to an unprotected wireless. (actually, FoDD saw the awesome force i was beginning to make in my nation and decided it would be best to cut me off cause nobody would stand a chance :D)

As for the Gameranger VS Hamachi - after using both, i have to say Gameranger wins hands down... I suggest we use it from now on, not to mention we can always see who's on if we add eachother as friends

P.S. Any other gamerangers out there that play FoDD so i can add them into my friends list? please put ur nick...

Well, we've played two MP sessions, each with a different set of players and a separate game. It was good fun both times.

We tried to play again last night but had connectivity problems. It was likely router port forwarding issues. I've since found out that DirectX network component also has time out issues in some circumstances. Anyway, it's likely we could have sorted out our connection issues last night but we didn't try hard as people had to go.

I'd like to continue either of the two games we've started.

Cheers,
Sword
