So, basically I was first getting a technical problem with which everything was under_scored_and_instead_of_spaces_all_the_dialog_in_game_was_like_this. And all the province's had numbers as in if I moused over some it would be something like province 486 etc. But I tried to load the game up again and it gives me "The working directory doesn't seem to be correct" Bug...mind you this is vanilla no mods or anything...I bought this game months ago and has been working pretty well (except for the time when everything looked like it was going through a masher and I couldn't read anything...finally found out it was the savegames long story short I had to install game two million times before it worked but worked fine after i deleted the save game folder). Any help would be appreciated!

I assume you have the PC version. I suggest a full clean reinstall:

If this is Steam: uninstall the game from Steam and move any valued save games elsewhere. Manually delete the CK2 directories from under the Steam AND MyDocuments folders, now reinstall the game via Steam.

If GamersGate: Move valued save games elsewhere, and uninstall the game. Manually delete the CK2 directories from where GG put them and from MyDocuments. Reinstall the game , download 1.05g patch again and apply it.

I'm having the same problem with my Mac. I installed the game a few days ago, and it was running fine (other than the flickering and slowdown issues that have been reported elsewhere for the Mac version). When I tried to open it today, I received the following message: "The working directory doesn't seem to be correct." I have tried two clean reinstalls and am still receiving the same error message. I would appreciate any input or work-arounds.

That was an issue before the latest update. When you say "clean installs" what you'd need to do is after uninstalling the game from Steam, manually delete any local files or directories Steam leaves behind, and only then install again.

FYI the workaround for this issue was to go to Go | home | users | <your user name> | library | application support | steam | steamapps | common | crusader kings ii | CrusaderKings2.app . Right-click on it and choose "package contents", Contents, Game. In there is "ck2.app" , drag a copy of that (ie using the Option key) into the "crusader kings ii" directory entioned above.
