I just started a Game Yesterday (February 4th, 2004) as Italy.
1.05, 1936.
Unsuspected by all, even Il Duce, Germany would soon be Italian..

Hil Roma!!
Il Duce started out blitzing Ethiopia, after realizing I was at war with them, and started a great undetaking of building 9 Moutain troops and 15 inf w. Art brig.
Afterwards i took Saudi Arabia and Iran in a few months, simply by massing all my troops in ships and getting them ready to invade the undefended Saudi and Iranian beaches and using mountaineers to quickly overcome Iran.
Subsequenlty I and invaded Greece wich fell in august 1937. Mad with power, the Italian Jugernaut steamrolled into Bulgaria, with the unseen effect of Germany declaring war against Il Duce???

The lure of the sea
German Transports was defeated easily at Gibraltar.
German Uboats started to wreak havoc amongst the italian convoys, while the italian navy easily smashed german Capital ship navy units, who where out of fuel, in the red sea (not daring going through at Gibraltar).

Land Warfare Begins
As soon as Bulgaria was Italy, all available home-army units was sent to the Austrian Border.
Il Duce beat hr. Hitler for military acces through Austria and military operations began, Il Duce determined to make the germans now their place!!
The capture of the two southernmost german undefended provinces was easy. What followed was a battle of attrition with the germans unsuccesfully trying to wrest the provinces back and Italy trying to expand the bridgehead. Germany was beaten by numerical superiority and river crossing difficulties. Italy was beaten by lower org levels, river crossing and german panzer I & II units.

New ways
It occured to the Italien Field Marshall Graziani, that the Czekoslovakian bordes were undfended. Il Duce once more secured military acces, and the 4 motorized divisions of Italy moved up to take Leipzig and made a dash for Hamburg. After a few aborted attempts the rouse finally succeded, and 4 german uboat flotillas was captured. The Italians in Hamburg was soon forced to retreat, and only through securing military acces through Holland, they were saved and later went on to take Koln.

Reinforcements
With reinforcement from colonial forces, except Libya, and the units from the training camps, Italy broke out from southern Germany and the Czek provinces simultainiously, quickly taking Nurmberg, Essen, Berlin, Rostock and Kiel. The latter 2 provinces was captured by an armoured colomn of to Fiat 3000 tanks who fought their way to Kiel capturing four enemy crusiers at Rostock, only to be cut of at Kiel, but saved through the italian Merchant navys effeciency in supplying it until Rostock was retaken by follow up divisions. By now it was a matter of time.

The end is nigh...
German troops panicked and was moving randomly about, but soon concenrtated in Saarbrucken where 20 Milita with 20 beaten regular Army units deperately tried a breaktout only to be enveloped from all sides by 45 Italian Division of finest quality. The Italian armies on the Oder made crossings and brought final german resistance to a halt, although this was only done to battle harden its leaders as the country already was ripe for annexation. It had taken a year, but germany was no more... it was august 1938.

What will happen next? Who will be next?
Democracies and peace loving folk throughout the world are equally impressed by and fearing the Italian might.

more to come..

Btw, Axis point score dropped to NIL as I annexed Germany.
I am playing a parallel game, where i puppet Germany instead at an earlier point, hoping to gain vital Technology and retaining many good quality German army units for me to control...
On the other hand, the quality of these units couldn't stand the test of Il Duces will!

Yeah that Ethiopia war can sneak up on ya.

woo. Slow down a minute. You annex Germany + a bunch of other nations. Sheesh, your Il Duce seems rather more energetic than the one in real life.

Are you aiming for WC?

At first I was just relaxing a bit from playing as Japan just finishing a conquest of Mexico i late ´43.
But then I remembered, that Il Duce actually was wounded in combat as part of an elite unit i the great war. And he was also an enigmatic public speaker, and also had enourmous ambitions which his country couldn't fullfill.
(Which he failed to recognise)
So he actually was quite energetic.
So I gave it a shot for WC.
But taking out Germany wasn't quite the idea, but they had it coming.... ;)
I am starting to wonder though what the Ruskies are up to??
But that'll have to wait until Yuogoslavia has kneelt before Il Duce

Seems a good AAr but itll all append to fast really and was Bulgaria part of the axis when you invaded them? Even if they are i was once Britain and i invaded Romania who were axis in 1938 and Germany didnt declare wasr on me..?

Sherinam -> No, Bulgaria were not part of the Axis
I think it has got to do with the fact, that all the other countries I annexed untill then were Fascist.

Anyhow, this is how it went:
I subsequently reversed history (loade dmy game just prior to attacking Bulgaria).
Tried to attack Bulgaria A LOT with the same result.
But, even though I tought those Germans who the REAL fascist are/were, the fact was that Germany did'nt have any allies at that moment, and when I defeated them, the fascist alliance lost, because there was no one to take the reins of leadership of the fascist alliance. This scenario, I will play out some other time, perhaps with Italy joining the Allies (If that can be done? I doubt it) to crush the commies.

Onwards! -to glory!
So, with history reversed, I found my self unable to continue my aggressive expasion without getting Dow'ed by the rest of the world. So I sat tight, expandended (2 Battleships 350mm) and modernised the Italien Navy and waited for the War.
When it finaly broke out on schedule 1939, I set out to annex Yuogoslavia and Albania which crumbled witih weeks.

Make the land come together
Turkey was next, as it were hindering italian oil supplies from Iran to travel by land instead of ships. They proved a tough nut, even though I could attack from Iran and Greece. I didn't dedicate enough forces to just roll over them, because Il Duce is paranoid about sudden landings from foreign powers in his vast empire.
So the bulk of the Italian army was on garrison duty, while italian men died in the hills and mountains of Turkey. Finnaly the Turkish accepted Pax Romana and the now battlehardened Italian troops set their sights on Romania.

Oil, precious oil!!
Again, the same number troops from the Turkish campaign were used, and the battles raged back and forth, Il Duce directing his forces in from Yuogoslavia and later Italian troops made naval landings in the Romainian capitol. After endles bloodshed, the romanians kissed freedom goodbye.
The year was summer of 1941

Fear of the Red
Il Duce paused for a moment, looking out at the world.
It seem to him it had changed. Being absorbed with his own battles, he had paid no attention to news from his forreign ministry.
Suddenly it dawned on Il Duce that the Germans, (who last time the italian dictator chekked, had established a puppet state in France, known as Vichy France) had launched a massive campaign against the russians.
Il Duce was never fond of two-front warfare.
But when the news hit him, that republic government of Spain (who won the civil war against all odds) had joined arms with Moscow and had conquered most of Vichy France (who had a military alliance with Germany), And now had troops on the Italian border, his blood froze for a second.
And the germans, who should have been in Moscow by now, were bogged down in ex-Poland against the vast Soviet Armies!
Already the Italian diplomats were handing over requests from Hitler to join him in his mad war. And Request from the Ruskies of military acces through Turkey....? What to do?

Il Duce said NO to the germans and russians alike.
he had other plans....

Rule Italia, Italia rules the waves.
Of the Middle east, that is.
It was time for the reinforced Italian Garrison in Tobruk to march. Destination - Cairo!
Preparing for war with the british, Il Duce sent a naval task force of 2 modern battleships, 8 Cruisers and 2 Destroyers on alert in West of Biscay. The rest of the italian navy deployed of the coast of Libya, Egypt and Syria.
Now Il Duce, laughing his cunning laughter, declared war on Iraq. UK and her allies (collonial France + commonwealth) declared war.

Force Italia
21 Italian Divisions (a fraction of the italian army - the rest on garrison duty)
blitzed through stunned british lines to Cairo, while at the same time 20+ division moved from Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia to conquer French Syria, Iraq and Sinai. At the same time massive Italian forces was Dispatched to the Iranian - Indian Border to Counter equally massive british forces, who failed to do more than show the flag.

The middle east was surprisingly quickly overrun, the Suez Canal taken control of and Iraq Anexed. In Kuwait and Dubai, italian troops found the british barracks deserted. Not a single shot was fired.
Only in ethiopia did the Italian forces suffer a minor setback, when bold british colonial militias made a daring raid capturing a single territory.
Ah, well, let them have this victory, so as to put their guard down...

Naval Action
Meanwhile the italian fleet west of Biscay were having a field day, sinking one british convoy after another, faster than they could report it. Only once did they meet resisatnce in the form of 2 australian cruisers, who were quickly overwhelmed.

Of the Coast of Syria, countless encounters took place between the British and Italian fleets, The modern Italian Navy with 350mm BB Fighting of whatever the british sent after them, even the dreaded carriers. In the end, the british forces were mauled, and withdrew, leaving the trapped desert forces to their fate. Upon capturing Damascus, the Italians seized 2 british cruisers in bad condition, not able to escape. Mussolini, thrilled with all nautical, was especially pleased and promptly named the ships after count Cianos two beloved dogs.

Summa Summarum
The year is late 1942, and Il Duces forces are mopping up british forces down through the Nile Valley eventually linking up with Ethiopia. In Sicily, Italian troops are embarking on ships, which will take them to Malta, to reclaim that territory.

The Master Plan
Il Duce has stunned his senior officers with his most ambitious plan yet:
The conquering of Britain!!!
Mad with power, he will hear nothing of the dangers of such a campaign and can already be found arguing to himself, whether to keep an occupational force in the British Isles or install a puppet government?
He instructs his commanders, to stop at nothing for capturing more British ships for italian service.

Has Il Duce finally lost it?
Watch this space....

(and there won't be more updates for a time. My Master Thesis is taking all my time)

That was a HELL of an update

More more!

thnx Keiper. :)
The war is on hold while the Genral Staff tries to talk Il Duce out of his mad plans.
I might try to get some pictures up, but have to find a program for taking screenshots. Or is there af feature to that within the game?

Hit F10.

Or you can also hit "PrntScrn" and then hit "paste" on any image program. But that only does one image...

thnx again
Thought as much
Faster to ask on the forum, than to look in the manual :)
Though I can't remember any mentioning of it in there.

There was a discussion on it in General Discussions a week back, I believe.
