So, no planets owned by more than 1 faction, then, as there have been 6 or so threads on the subject with no response?
Common sense could tell you that this wouldn't be a thing ;). It's never been done before and would be a tremendous amount of work for a very rare and specific situation

If a planet is made up of different provinces/regions which are similiar to CK2 baronies... it would be possible ;) In CK2 a province can be owned by different realms

systems (baronies) including planets (provinces).
I think you have reversed those two.

Yeah but this is a spacegame I doubt that it'll make sense to go from a galactic scale all the way down to CK2 like baronies and provinces.
A continent is a nice barony-type thing in Stellaris. But, let's think about performance for a moment.
We can have 1000 planetary systems. Let's assume 3 planets per system, on average. That's 3000 provinces. If we add 3-4 continents per planet, we are getting close to 10000 "baronies". It may be quite a lot for this engine...

Baronies and provinces are no problems for the enginge. Look how many provinces HoI has ;) CK2 is not slowed down by provinces. Provinces don't slow down CK very much. Characters slow down CK2. RoI slowed down the game because many new characters. Not because the provinces in India. This is the reason why the game get's slower after some years... more characters.

Well, they have SOME impact.

I know that - but we do not know what planets will do exactly in this game. If a planet is an equivalent to processing 20 people in CK2, it may be a problem. Or it may not.
There is insufficient data for meaningful answer :)

CK2, as has been said.

Every baron is a character, that's how they impact performance, although barons don't get events.

It will probably be tag based mostly. So far it seems like the characters are not playable and it's the thingies that are playable (tags in EU and HOI, characters in CK2) that need to be checked against each other every in-game day..

Characters in Stella are not like Characters in CK2 ;) They don't have interconnections, they don't act on their own etc etc. I doubt a planet alone would do so much ;)

I am not talking about characters. I am talking about calculations required per province and comparing that to calculations required per character in CK2.

You have things like units and building constructed in the province, POPs and so on.

Hmm should I give an answer regarding counters anyway...

You will end up confirming or denying at some point, out of boredom :D

Hopefully, Stellaris will be 64 bit and support multicore and multithreaded processing better than CK2.

Already copnfirmed it supports 32 bit... sadly :( It was somewhere in the ask anything thread...

Argh. Unless they were facing a choice between rebuilding Clausewitz from the ground up or staying 32 bit, that was a mistake and even then it was probably still a mistake in the long run. The $300 laptop I bought six years ago ran 64 bit architecture and OS. I don't think you can even buy a computer that will meet the minimum requirements for Stellaris that's 32 bit.
