Has anyone else run into this problem?

You don't invade Denmark, DOW on Belgium, go to Blitz on through to Paris with upwards of 40 divisions, 18 of them armoured, I think through Leige is the province I attacked, and somehow the Allies managed to hold me off with 18 divisions, then within a day another 40 had arrived, and this did not weaken any of the other provinces that I shared a border with the Allies.

How does this happen? What events give France that many freakin' units? It was March 1940 for crying out loud. They had over 60 divisions down in the Maginot alone....

Then, they stack upwards of 80 in Reims as soon as I make my move, and all of them getting there within 2 days. How is that possible, some of them coming from the UK?????

Sounds like you were having a tough game. However in my opinion, and experience its far from farked.

Sometimes it's easy, Sometimes it's hard. That's why it's fun.

Of the four major mod's, HSR is actually the best at the moment, IMO. CORE is still in development, TRP is a barely playable Beta (but they are working on it and I am looking forward to the result) and the changes DAIM makes just don't suit me. If you fail to build HQ's to maximize your offensive and defensive capabilities, the French get their stuff together to mount a decent defense and you fail to emphasize building infantry and other ground units by building air, industrial and naval builds, you will be in for a tough time. But if you manuever well to bypass and surround large French concentrations and use force concentration to overwhelm weaker areas to allow the destruction of these pockets, you can pretty much overcome the French at pretty much the same time as it occurred historically.

Yeah, tried all of those ideas. The problem is they can apparently fly as well. I'll attack an area with only 7 divisions, hoping to go through and around, and within 1 day (game time) they have over 40 there. How do they move that fast? These are not all right next to each other....

I am running into the same problem in my Soviet Union game. I stopped the Wermacht but cannot counter-attack with out the Germans somehow bringing in tons of reinforcements. Also for the last 18 months they have had zero manpower but somehow have added over 18 new divisons to their army??

I think what really does me in is the stacking penalty. I have noticed by dumping the code and searching through it (I have no life) for some reason France's penalty for stacking is much lower than mine.....

......NOT FAIR!!! WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

overstack should be no problem..
use a general (6units) or fm (12units)
hq (with gen or fm) in bordering province doubles that max

I had the sameproblem: I attacked Bilbao from Dax, defended by 35 divisions of spanish infantery : 20 div of militia, 5 of 1936, 4 HQ, 6 1918 cavalery.

I have 152 divisions of 1943 infantry, all of them with Hard Brigade, Waffen SS, Artillery and AT tank, including 20 Panthers with SS, and 40 Gebirdsjäger, EVERYTHING. 10 tactical bombers Ju-88 are bombing "Interdiction" style, 30 Kriegsmarine ships (8 Bismarck class, 5 Hipper Class, 10 Scharnhorst class, and other vessels) bombing the aera, 10 divisions of fallschirmjägers are parachuted on them, and, BEFORE the combat, I took Madrid (airdrop), so the spanish units were undersupplied during the combat.

I have ALL the land, and air doctrine available @ this time (feb 1943).

They hold me easily.
One word: IMPOSSIBLE.

PS: all my infantry was on "offensive" mode, and I had 40 div of 1941 hungarian division too.
152+40 = 192!!!

hubu.. u play ww1 style..

35 defending divisions are impossible to beat attacking like you did..
they arent undersupplyed (at least as i know) cause as you take madrid the capital imediately moves to another province..
so as long as theres a connection from that new supply depot they will be fully supplyed..

your attacking from 1 province..
so your max attacking units with full org will be 24 (with fm in charge and hq nearby)
all other units will suffer high overstack penaltys and therefore will be mostly useless..
these 24 full efficiency units may not even be your finest..
air/naval attacks are nice but cant even out those 11 units the defender got effectively more then u.
besides they are most likely dug in..

try to take a weaker defended path if possible and attack from multiple provinces or best try to build a pocket or ignore this province if its not essential for spains surrender (dont know exactly)

if you attack from 2 provinces with fm+hq your effective force will be 48.. 3=62 aso..
if this is in fact the weakest spot and no way to attack from different provinces (i highly doubt) it will be a hard fight..
but at least save supplys/manpower/losses and only attack with max units without overstack.
if theyll run low on org remove those units and instantly replace them with full strength/org reinforcements..
this fight may last long and i highly recommend to use another way if possible but you should win if you got more reinforcements/longer breath.
