Well, as the title says, I want to know if the mod makes the game more challenging.

I used to play vanilla until a year ago, when due to unbalancing issues I started to play HIP.

The problem is that I feel the game too easy. I don´t know if it´s because I´m better than before, or maybe it´s the HIP mod, but I remember feeling threatened by other powers, even when I could field large number of troops. (I mean in vanilla).

Instead, in the HIP mod I can easily strengthen my position, and I have too much troops too easy.
I know I´m repeating "easy" a lot, but is how I feel about the HIP mod.

Maybe CK2+ can fix this problem... what do you think?

PD: Sorry if I misspelled somethig. I can read English perfectly, but write it is another story

Did you try changing the difficulty?

I never touch the difficulty settings.

I don´t think that it will make any diference in terms of fun. What I mean with "challenging" is that you don´t find yourself being too powerful while the AI and the mechanics don´t put any pressure over you.

Here´s an example of what I think is easy: I started a game in HIP as a count of Siena under the King of Italy in the Old Gods bookmark. With my first character I became an independent King of my own kingdom (via decision). With his son I create an empire while I have the same number of troops as any karling king with only a little portion of land in Italy. It´s not challenging if in 40 years I can face any european kingdom starting as a count inside one of these kingdoms.

And here´s an example of what I consider challenging: In vanilla, I started as a nomad in Turkestan. I spend decades improving my army and then I launch an invasion of Anatolia. I win it and I spend more decades securing my position. The balance of power betwen the bizantines, the fatimids and myself was super stable. Then, well, the HRE appear and ruins everything with his heavy cavalry. But the point is that even when I have 20k troops, the game still brings me a challenge. Meanwhile, in the previous example I was able of everything with 12k troops in the middle of Europe.

I think thah CK2+ is more like vanilla than HIP in this subject and I want to know if situations like the second example are more common in this mod than in HIP

I think Plus does make a great job of making the game more challenging, but in a good way. Especially as a tribal/pagan.

Good example of the difference:

CK2: declared war on neighbour, sent over army, defeated army.

Plus: Declared war, sent over army, left flank commander is wounded and captured by neighbours' brilliant marshal. Brilliant marshal comes after you, the 50 year old count with a personal combat skill of 2. You decide "F**k that" and run to safety. Your soldiers see their lord fleeing and lose morale. You gain craven trait. Your army is defeated without a commander, a craven lord and a minus to morale. Enemy army sieges your holding, should you try and flee with your court and family, should you just send your family to safety? or should you all stay in the castle valiantly and risk being taken hostage if it falls?

TLDR; Plus is Super CK2

Well to be fair and honest both HIP and Ck2 Plus are both far better than Vanilla.
Which is making me have to choose which one i want to play.. Do I want to play ck2 Plus or HIP
Both are good in there own ways.. - Gets the Lunatic trait because he cant decide -
Although I do believe the faction system in Ck2 + is better than the one in HIP.

i prefer CK2 as i dislike the HIP map i find the lack of provinces in eastern Europe annoying , exspeaily seeing i love playing early maygar . plus the lack of support for the earlyist start date is annoying to as i find that my favorite starting date more of a challenge

I enjoy the extra flavour CK2+ adds to the game. The coronations, the battle decisions, the faction system. I'd find it tough to go back to vanilla CK2, as good a game as it is.

More difficult? I'm not experienced enough to say. But it feels more fleshed out, with more consequences for actions.

Personally, CK2+ is one of my favorite mod, for all the flavour adding in the game, mores specially all the flavour for the religions and the heresy, when I play a bogomilist with CK2+ I have the feeling that I'm a Bogomilist, and not just an orthodox with a color swap :D
Also, yes CK2+ is truly more challenging than vanilla, you canno't just convert all your kingdom at your religions in just one day, it's a long and hard work. Also, there is some great challenge in CK2+, like the paulician patriarch in the 867 bookmark, you're surrounded by muslim at south, apostolic at east, and Byzantine empire at west, and you have just a special army of 6000 soldiers of light infantry and a free Holy war CB. So you will have to make some blitzkrieg if you want to survive
