Hey all. As I live in Riga (and was the guy that convinced DDR Jake back in 2018 to give Riga it's ideas in that PDXcon) ofc my first playthrough was with my glorious GLORIOUS hometown. Here's a few things for any of you who want to try themselves:
1. The 5 province limit ONLY APPLIES TO EUROPE. You can go wild with colonialism. Yep, figured that out pretty late myself in my first run, gonna get my 5 max tradepower/wonders provinves in Europe, then Africa & Asia here I come. So, so much money awaits.
2. Related to this, the "propagate religion" Riga gets for turning protestant doesn't work on catholics. AT ALL. Pretty sure this wasn't intended, but it's a yet another hint that after we've become ultra-rich at home, you absolutely should go and colonize.
3. Don't bother taking center of trade provinces for yourself, just give them to your subjects and turn on trade steering. As you only get 5 provinces and have more gold than you know what to do with, aim for wonders. Seems to be the best option.
4. Pick and choose whichever province you like by "war against heretics" CB, which, upon turning protestant, actually DOES allow you to take provinces, surprisingly enough. (This absolutely was not intended I think.)
