Praise be to God, the Beneficent King, and Creator of the universe.
KNOW, O master, O noble persons, O my fellow modders that I, Tunch Khan of Astakhos, will soon start working on a new mod called "Thousand And One Nights" and I hereby announce this news on this rare occasion of my thousand and first post on the sacred forums of Paradox. As i have just spent my thousand and first sleepless night dedicated to this fantastic universe, I have come up with this new mod idea that I have been thinking for a while, hoping to reflect the fascinating life of the Orient which is little known to the Crusading Kings, by enabling Moslem countries and adding new events along with new graphics. As always I will be looking forward for your assisstance, valuable feedback and creative ideas to make this mod come true. Peace be upon you.

woohoo! sounds exiting and entriging! so if playing as muslims, instead of granting land to the templars, we'll be granting land to the assasins?

as the byz empire was part of the orient, and i have grabbed the title of 'byzantine-o-phile" at an enourmous amount of prestige, i would like to offer my services. i can mod game files and actually like to research :)

The MOD called "Dark Kings" will have a scenario starting in 800 (when Haroun al-Rashid was ruling over the arabs, the khalif of the Thousand and One Nights)... but this idea, your idea it is another thing.

I started some time ago to create a "complete" muslim MOD, but graphics was/are my problem. I'm not an artist... and stopped.

This idea is AWSOME!! But, more precisely, what this mod will be about? Will it be another "play the muslims" mod, or will it have some new flavour, like something magic, or the characters of the romance? In this second case, I would be hounored to contribute (I geve my cats names of 1 thousand and 1 night, like Shariar, Shazenan, Camaralzaman...).

Thank you very much for the interest. :)
At this moment i'm not planning to make a 9th century nod since that would also require a lot of work on Europe and leave the Turks aside *cough. Instead, I was hoping for adding loads of flavor events supported with new graphics. Perhaps not adding Jeenni of the Lamp kind of unrealistic events, but instead characters such as Ala'ad-din, Sindbad and even Ali Baba as courtiers and make events based on them.
These, of course, would be supplementary to the actual historic events of the period.
But before we get started i'd like to establish the foundation to see what can and what can not be done in terms of modding. This being the base of enabling moslem mod. What i want to do different than ladyfabia's mod is to add the Shia to the game, since they were of a greater threat to Seljuks even during the crusades.
Therefore i am planning to leave the Shia as the unplayable religious enemy, while perhaps letting Catholics be playable. But as you can see there's a contradiction here, since they have to be religious enemies during the crusades, in order to make the game work properly. It's just that i don't want to waste one tier away, depending on wether we choose Catholic or Orthodox to make Sunni playable. So i believe this is the first issue that needs attention at this stage.

Since the Abbasid Caliphs had far less authority than the Popes in this period, it'd probably make sense to have the Sunnis replace the Orthodox tag.
