Sorry I missed my update yesterday, daily from now on however, Rob, I'd have told you but I wanted to see if it held my interest before I called in a claque, anyway I told you I would start one soon
"Whats next, thats a really big chronicle you have there monk and it can't all be about me since I've been king, I was only crowned the other day, what else is in there" William was getting curious he rarely read chronicles and he wanted to know what else was in this one, was there picture of his wipe? Or other scandalous imagery, maybe not a monk was writing this, perhaps a digest on his court, its always nice to get an outside view.
The monk shivered under the intense stare of the King, "Your Majesty the next section is about your rivals." William shook his head, "Rivals?" William walked away and the monk let out a sigh or relief, the chronicle based interrogation was over, maybe he could now take out the real chronicle rather than the backup flattery based one, an adviser of his gave him just in case.
William walked back carrying a lexicon, the monk was speaking Latin and William was more proficient at French, he had been confused by the Monks use of the word rival, "Middle French, from Latin rivalis one using the same stream as another." The monk shook his head, "What my lord?" William laughed, "rivalis: one using the same stream as another while competing for competitive advantage, I can't have rivals the Crown of England is a private stream they merely splash in dirty brooks."
The monk nodded, "yes Your Majesty, however these individuals consider themselves in the same stream as Your Majesty." William shook his head, "Fools I have no rivals." The monk nodded "Yes your majesty"
The rivals of the King

The Leofricson brothers, the only two saxon dukes in Norman England, ruling Lancaster and Northumberland either Duke believes in his potential to put the crown on his own head.
Their Loyalty to the crown is tenuous and they are not likely to hold to their oaths of loyalty.
These prestigious saxon lords could revolt with the backing of the entire Saxon population. That would be problematic from the nation. It is hard to tell which of the individuals would be pushed to stake a claim for the English crown. Edwin is wise but Morcar has a greater landholding.
There is also the risk that the two dukes could desert and move to Scotland. Their landholdings would make the Scottish Kingdom a real threat and they themselves would be free of those that they refer to as Norman invaders
