I always thought that the Timurids were coded to appear in the late 14th Century. In my current game I'm at 1422 and they've not come. Will this last horde be making any appearance at all?

AFAIK, the Timurids won't make an appearance in CK. But as their replacement, the Il-Khanate will appear in Khwarizmian area of the game (present-day Uzbek) and The Golden Horde will also make an appearance in Russian area.

Damn.

Timurids are a late 14th Century thing whilst the other Mongols are early to mid 13th Century.

I was looking forward to one last major struggle :(

Would be nice to see them appearing, but unfortunately only Hordes which will spawn are the Il-Khanate and the Golden Horde.

it is dissapointing i must admit...
Well, let's just hope in CK2, timur the lame will finally make an appereance thrashing the il-khanate and ravaging the near east :D

As an aside has anyone ever seen the mongols appear and felt the urge to marry his sons off to as many mongol women as possible. If in theory if a player defeated a mongol group and got some mongol courtiers he could end up with a couple mongol grandsons... and don't mongols have not demense limit. Anyone pull this off or is it impossible?

kilarious

Was possible at least at some point in CK, but it was disabled, by DV in the latest. Also, the 15% chance of getting mongol descendants if your capital is in a mongol province.

It was practically an exploit.

Could similar events be used to add other invasions from off the map? Or is there a limit to how many of these invasions can be set up? Having the Khwarizm turn up just before the mongols could be an interesting twist on the thirteenth century. Likewise, it could be used to produce the Almoravid and Almohad invasions of North Africa and Spain. It could even be used to make a resurgent Nubia/Ethiopia possible- although how desirable this would be is debateable.

I don't see why not. Only thing which could limit it is that you need to find free tag for every new nation or edit existing ones. But since there are existing tags of some of those African factions, it shouldn't be problem.

Like the man said, no reason why it couldn't be modded in, as long as there are (kingdom-level) tags available. They wouldn't get the hardcoded bonuses (no demesne penalty and no attrition being the most important) of ILKH and GOLD though, but if this just means you need to do a few more events rather than "here, have a province and 60 000 dudes", like the first two hordes get at the moment.

There already is the mod for the Timurids like someone mentioned above, then there's one to help out the Ottoman empire (they pop as a pretty helpless one-province nation in vanilla) by giving some free troops and claims on neighbours (so they can do some conquering even if Byzantium has already been overrun by muslims; against christians they can use the old religious enemy casus belli).

Those bonuses are tied to the Mongol culture not to the tags of the ILKH and GOLD :)

Cheers, I think I'll have a tinker with this over the weekend. The lack of massive demense bonus for non-mongols is probably a good thing (in fact I think it could probably be toned down for the mongols as well rather than them having demense limit=map).
