Players often get 'War ends inconclusively?'. It is my new pet peeve.
Sometimes it is 'logical', i.e. the enemy rules dies, sometimes it is a lot more obscure and sometimes I have no idea at all why the war ended.
If a rules attacks you with a claim and dies due to you assassinating him the war also ends (usually), yet this is wrong mechanic if his heir inherits the claim on you. As long as the attacker faction keeps the claim the war should not end.
I won't claim to be an expert on the war mechanics but I can tell you that many players find the 'War ends inconclusively' extremely annoying. Please give an explanation in a popup WHY it has ended.
