Hey All-

Having some issues with my Sanitarium. I set it up with three flaws, thumbs up those flaws in that dome, and thumbs down them in all the other domes. When the dome is initially built this works just fine, but once the first 'class' of folks graduate, they don't want to move, and just sit around unemployed.

Any tips to create a better rotation of folks?

Thanks,

Nick

Colonists only change domes automatically when there are no residences available in the dome where they currently ARE, and there are available residences in another dome "within range" (which depends on if you have shuttles/passages or if there is an outside walk required.)

Traits and professions seem to have little influence whether a colonist will relocate "on their own". Students graduating from University may be an exception to this.

However, at their new dome, the game will try to automatically shuffle colonists for the best "fit" of professions within the dome.

You can always reassign the recent Sanatorium cures manually, however.

I wish the sanitarium would place people back in their old jobs when they graduate, including moving back to his old job dome. For this purpose it could make that work slot unavailable, showing the time remaining for the treatment (something the game gives zero information about). Same could be done about university auto training. AI would try to keep unavailable slots this way as even as possible so it doesn't end up putting a whole factory in the sanatorium while the rest of the colony works fine.

How I've been managing it, though, requires some micro management. All my work places are set to restrict to specialists/non-specialists only, with working through passages disabled. This way when the colonist graduates from the sanatorium he will either go back to his job if it was in the same dome or remain unemployed. You'll need to check for unemployment from the colony overview once in a while (wish we could make unemployment show in the notifications panel) and then manually order him to go back to his old work place or wherever you want him to go now.
