Hi there guys
Im currently runing a glorious french campain in the early years and find its really cool to have a liberal(not in the anglosaxon meaning of the term) party in the government but I plan on having an interventionist soon to get my economy the way I wanted after the capies have updated my transport for free.
I just tested it and it seems that by means of allowing universal suffrage the interventionists might get elected or at least if I put it in power people wont protest much.

- What party do I need so I can create soldier pops in my overseas colonies?
- What are the effects of public mettings setings?
- Is there any way to become a constitutional monarchy with a parlamientary executive??? (with HMS that +1 mil and cons really hurts and Im planing on switching parties in power a lot:().

-You'll need a party with full citzenship to convert foreign pops
-Public meetings will give you gradual prestige and will decrease the militancy of certain pops, but it will also increase the costs of crime fighting
-The only way to change your executive is through revolution i think.

Hmm, there's an issue with soldiers. I can't convert non-primary culture POPs into soldiers, even with full sitizenship party and jingoism. What can be the reasons of it?
 
I believe you have to make a colony a state in order to change its pops. To do this you must either have your capital on the same continent as the colony (not an option for france) or have one province in the state with one of your national cultures as it's primary culture. This isn't an easy thing to do always due to poor life ratings and poor RGOs, easiest in the americas or as russia in your eastern provinces, hardest in overpopulated indian and chinese provinces i'd say.

That said north africa is a great source of arab soilders even without changing pops. Tripoli and egypt are good in this regard and nearly always go bankrupt at some stage.

I remember as Japan I could convert soldiers in korea and vietnam. Currently as France with a liberal (not in the anglosaxon sense) government I cannot even grant statehood to my colonies, much less convert pops. I hope that when that party that has full citizenship and interventionism that my middle class loves is allowed to come to power I will be able to convert them.
 
All my states are states in fact, however I can't turn POPs into soldiers. The tooltip says "You need a full sitizenship party bla bla" but I do have one!

No problem.

As japan you can easily turn colonies into states as Japans capital Edo is in asia, and so too is all of china, india, middle east, siberia , indonesia etc. All you need is a full citizen ship party.

It could be a bit harder with france as you'll have to get your french pops to emigrate to africa (assuming your colonies are there), something they are not usually inclined to do. Even with a full citizen ship party, you won't be able to make them states without some frenchmen emigrating.

No way! you mean I wont be able to get tons of cannon foder out of my glorious african empire for the wars with prussia?!?!? But that was the only reasson while I anexed those dirt poor pseudo-countries in the first place!:confused:
Seems like I will have to choose between guns or butter in my national economy...so I need some european provinces to be able to convert pops to glorious french stromtroopers? Mmmm time to change strategic plans then...:D

Well the african colonies you claim or capture will have soldier pops all ready for you, you can get a fair amount this way. but no you won't easily be able to create more. The soilders you produce from these colonies will how ever be considerably cheaper to upkeep for a small loss in reliability

you're very true, the only good way to help French to move to other places is:

1. Capture a state in America.
2. The state will grow, and assimilate
3. The assimilated people would move out

of course... this is still very difficult.
 
Hi guys I checked yesterday and apparently I cant grant statehood not even with a full citizenship party in government and so I can only create native queality units which have a lot of shortcomings (I think they have only 20 org! with the ai always choosing jominean(sorry bad spelling) and thus having 80+morale they are totally useless except for garrison) while the have the same maintanance costs as a regular inf!!(I checked)

The windows says that a pop needs to be of the same culture as yours but given the fact that I produced tons o' soldiers in my glorious Japanese campaing in vietnam and Korea I would say that what that means is that you can only (for god knows what reason) create soldier pops of the same continent as your capital.

I think I will be converting some grain producing pops in mainland france to glorious soldiers of the french army but that is such a waste they could be producing those delicious high quality manufactures:(
