I've been playing a game for a while now, and I'm getting very tired of constant crashing in the game requiring me to load quite old save games in order to get past a certain point in time. Nothing suggested in these forums has thus far fixed this for me, and every time I get past a crash through reloading an old savegame (it usually occurs on a specific date), it just happens again on some new date a few years in the future. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. What info and/or files should I provide?

Please post your Rome/settings.txt and Rome/logs/system.log files.

Have you deleted the files only in your /map/cache/ directory?

Can you describe the nature of the crashes in more detail please? Are they all the same?

Please try this newer video driver http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_195.62_whql.html

Hi there,

Yes, I tried the map/cache file delete to no avail. Not much to describe about the crashes though... a certain date will come and the game will crash. I'll reload the last savegame a couple times and the game will crash at the exact same date. It is then a process of rolling back further savegames until i get one that doesn't crash once that date comes about. Then i play no problem for awhile until the next bad date comes, and I have to repeat the process.

Just recently, I am also now having the Runtime Error crash once in awhile that has also recently been brought to attention on this forum.

Cheers

OK, you probably have the NoCultureGroup bug as described in this sticky thread.

The original problem MAY have been this... I'm not sure. I circumvented the other crashes in the way i described. Now I'm completely stuck. Game crashes out to a runtime error message now whenever it hits 1 Jan 726.

Try turning off autosave, does that let it get past 1 Jan?

Are you saying this happens in any game you play, or just one particular game? If the latter have you checked again for that bug?
