Since taking on what seems to be a gargantuan task of filling in the history files for Lux Invicta, I thought I would open up a new thread for feedback, comments and brainstorming. I am currently working, albeit at a slow pace, to catch the history files up to date for the 1066 start, and you guys will see them slowly roll out as I upload them to the SVN and riknap integrates them into the official release versions.

The first query I have for both the council and the player base regards the history files. I have concluded the history for Arche Seleukeia and for the Seleukid Kingdom of Antioch up until the final collapse of the Seleukid Empire in 116 AD. From that date until the start of the game in 1066, there is only one Seleukid character mentioned in Shaytana's timeline, and that is Antiochos XXV in 648AD. Now, would you guys like to see just that character implemented, so that there is just this character, with the improper Regnal Number or would you like me to use a little bit of artistic license and fill the title history out all the way to the start date? I have created a list of rulers to fill the list out, making sure that Antiochos XXV is the monarch of Antioch at 648, but also rulers after him, so that the current ruler would be Antiochos XXIX. I haven't coded these 35 or so characters yet, but I will if that is the general consensus of the group. Likewise, I would do this for all the kingdom titles where I could.

Also, with the upcoming Eastern Expansion of the map, I would be willing to do the same for the newly incorporated titles from Persia to Japan.

speaking of the eastern expansion, what's the ETA on the glorious add on to lux?

That falls under the domain of futuregary and the mod's regent, riknap. They make the ultimate decision about that, but if I understand correctly, they are trying to push it out before RoI comes out in mid-March.

ideal goal: before RoI comes out
actual ETA?
we'll see

I think it's better to fill up than just leave blanks everywhere in the history files ;)

By the way, I'd be so glad to begin with Antiochus XXIX than Antiochus the first :D
Does anyone have an idea of the maximum regnal number ? XCIX maybe ?

MMMDCCCLXXXIX? :p
that said, Hawkeye has been contributing lately in filling up the history files, so there's that :p

Okay guys, I've coded the characters and history for Antioch. Got it done right before work so I didn't get a chance to upload yet. I'll upload it to the SVN tomorrow when I get home. From there, I'll love on to the Ptolemies in Egypt and Kyrene.

Two quick notes. One, I think it would be prudent to change the localization of the Kingdom of Antioch to Syria to fit in with Shaytana's history.

Also, am I to believe that the Kings of Nobatia are the heirs of
Cleopatra and Marc Antony?

They claim they're. TBH there are Ptolemies all over the place... but I guess yes; the Ptolemy Antonius line presumably descends from Cleopatra's children with Antony and the Ptolemies Caesarion from well... Ptolemy Caesar.

Keep in mind the Kyrene Ptolemies are technically a cadet branch - the timeline implies that they are descended from Ptolemy VI Philometor (either through Ptolemy Eupator or Ptolemy VII Neos Philopator - given the debates about whether Neos Philopator even existed I'd lean towards Eupator).

Also, the Shamsids of Amman are descended from Alexandros Helios (which would mean the Nobatian kings likely descend from Ptolemy Philadelphus II). In addition, there is another family descended from Mark Anthony - the Amanai of I think Tripoli or thereabouts are descended from him, likely through Marcus Antonius Antyllus.

Yeah, I had done a preliminary sketch of the Ptolemies when I finished up the Seleukids and they are exceptionally hard to follow, but I did have the Kyrene branch descended from Ptolemy VI I believe with the Kings of Egypt from Ptolemy VIII, which would technically make the Kyrene branch the senior line, since Ptolemy VIII was either a brother or nephew. Ptolemy XV Caesarion ruled Egypt for a while and ousted the second line of Ptolemies (from Ptolemy VIII) but after him idk where they went. Caesarion's line rules in Ethiopia somewhere, Alexander Helias rules in Amman, which is a bastard Ptolemy/Marc Antony line. I'm at work now, and don't have my notes in front of me, but that shores up the major lines. I'll get the rest all figured out tonight hopefully lol.
