thank you, I thought you should place the split at the point where both rivers split instead of at the start of one of them.
amusingly though, it appear I accidently placed one split correctly
 
I made a map and it worked perfectly, but it had 4000+ provinces. I looked at the game files and in AGOT mod, and those are way more then in those. So I made the same map, but now with 400+ provinces. Previously, I always had errors creating rivers (this was due to them not being one pixel wide), but now, I have no errors creating the terrain and provinces. But for some reason, I have a problem with the positions now. What can cause this error?

It's likely that my code is trying to place a port outside map boundaries. Typically this would be caused by a province that borders the edge of the map, and also the sea.
Normally the port is placed at a point on the coast of the province that is nearest to the settlement, if that point happens to be on the edge of the map it might fall outside the map and I forgot to check this case (as personally my map borders were always wastelands or waters).

If you manage to identify the likely culprit, you can fix it by moving the settlement closer to the coast and away from the edge of the map, so the port will be placed within map boundaries.

It's probably the next one then... either directly below it, or the next one to its right ? The tool scans and numbers settlements column by column from top to bottom, then left to right.
 
I am using this excellent tool to create a total conversion mod with new map files and put it into mods folder. However it crashes and shows "unknown error while loading files". I have searched log files for debug info but sadly I haven't find any useful. I have searched all modified files for all potential problem may caused as much as I can. Still I have no clue on what caused that crash. Besides, I have run the mod through The Validator but I can't find any useful. I am using Windows 10 64-bit. All logs are attached. The mod is also attached. Please help me to deal with this problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think you're just pushing the game engine past what it can handle. Try with a smaller scaled map ?
I have also had some crashes with too many too small sea provinces. Maybe something about calculating naval paths maybe ? Try with more distance between sea nodes.

Do you have plans to convert this great tool into CK3? It will greatly help all modders to make total conversion mod in CK3 =]
Kind of, but nothing concrete at the moment.
I'm still figuring out how CK3 maps work, I think I got most of it, but not sure I want to spend the time to commit to this, as it's looking more like "rewrite everything and reuse a few parts" than "convert".
 
After reading landed title, history, dynasty and character files, it seems that the difference in these files are not large and it could be much easier to "convert" related code for CK3?
I how that the map generating in CK3 are highly changed, but would it be more easy to do if just convert some parts (provinces.map, definition.csv, landed title, history, dynasty and character) of the great tool to work in CK3? I think these files are most needed and other map files could be done by map editor
 
Just wanted to chime in to say that I'm also really looking forward to a CK3 version of this if you end up working on one Loc_n_lol!
I was utterly amazed by these tools (and still am today). I'm sure you're already on the CK3 modding coop discord, but if not I highly suggest joining it, most modders congregate there and may be able to help you in the future if you do deice to work on a CK3 adaptation of the tools :)
 
Hello, I love this tool, best modding tool for new ck2 maps IMO. Thank you so much for making it.

So I have a few map mods I made with this tool that work great in single player on the final ck2 version with no crashes using mostly vanilla code. 1 has a proper bookmark and pre-defined borders for everything, 2 others (soon to be 3) work perfectly fine in single player in the random world mode because I have not set up their bookmarks/ borders yet.

That said, it seems that multiplayer does not work at all with these maps made from this tool after injecting vanilla code on top, even when single player works great with seemingly no bugs. My guess would be it’s an additional file that this tool did not create that needs to talk with the landed titles file, but does not exist.

Any idea why single player and bookmark for a ck2 mod would work fine, but pressing the host multiplayer button after entering server name and password causes CTD?
It’s the 2nd host button where it should take you to the custom startup screen, which is identical to the single player custom startup screen (map where you choose which character you want) except the Play button says Host. Seems to be related to landed titles somehow, but not sure why it would work fine in single player but not launch multiplayer at all.

Already tried googling and forum with Boolean phrases, and looking specifically for multiplayer compatibility documentation.
I don’t want to spend too much time on this, and took so long to notice because I don’t really play ck2 in multiplayer anyway, but was shocked to learn that none of my mods made with this tool work in multiplayer, and figured it must be an easy fix if I can already play a full game in single player fine.

if you or anyone have any info on getting mods made with this tool to work in multiplayer please let me know. Thank you!

Im on step 3 of the guide, and have generated the provinces. Upon doing so, I receive 2 minor errors for localization and trade routes. As the guide did, I created a mod to test out the map. Unfortunately, upon reaching the "Loading Graphics" loading screen, the game simply crashes. Im unsure as to what may be causing this issue. I have attached my logs and the map files themselves here.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, love CK2 too much to give up mapping for it!

1st I'm seeing some references to base game characters in your log so make sure you override them in your testmap mod .mod, like this for example :

I haven't been able to narrow down what is causing the crash exactly but it seems related to the province map or landed_titles probably. The terrain itself is loading up.
I'd recommend you restart with a clean output and also clean out settlements / provinces / dejure in input. I would also recommend you do not use major settlements or de jure kingdom / empire generation until you have some culture map (duchies should be fine). Could be that your provinces are too large (which could cause issues when calculating borders), but I can't tell for sure, the game leaves no clues. You also had some underwater settlement, but that doesn't seem to faze the game either...

Here's a version of your map that boots up for me, with some randomly placed settlements and no water provinces at all.
