Is there any way to force the guards to stay at the guard towers? I have built towers specifically to guard against certain regions where blight hives tend to pop up and true enough, on occasion a hive queen will attack. This would be no big deal since I have placed the towers in that exact spot... except for the fact that the guards have a tendency to roam around the entire settlement. The autogun in the tower does a little damage but not enough by a long shot, and I'll be focusing on something else when suddenly the guard towers are razed to the ground by this monster because the stupid guards prefer to travel all around the colony instead of staying at their post.

They also have to sleep, eat etc etc. Defensive towers to far away from your settlement are usually a bad idea because of this. Not to mention they freeze in winter.

If you must do this you can reduce their away time by placing a food tent and a toilet nearby.

Sure, but both of them at the same time? More often than not, both guards have been away, and far away as well. Like, you'd think they'd at least be able to take turns if you have researched the extra work slot and there are two people assigned to the tower. And as for the human needs, I have seen them literally walking casually around some area far from where they have been assigned. That's not attending to a pressing need which has to be fulfilled.
