I already asked this question on the "general discussion" board, but it seems this board is more suitable...

My government just decided to set up a general trade embargo. I invested a lot in trade and I don't want my investments to be reduced nor other nations to set up embargos against me in turn. There wasn't any time limit, aparently, for this event. How can I get rid of this embargo??

Don't worry, there are no negative sides on this one. No stability drop, no casus belli, not even loss of research. So just enjoy it... though saving and quitting and reloading should have done the trick already :)

embargos

When the event appear the box said that now all countries could set up embargos against me without penality. So, it could have been a problem if they have decided to do so. Also, I read in the manual that there was a penalty toward trade research. So I had some reasons to be worried.

I don't like the save/reload method, it's too easy to reload when there's something wrong, and it's no fun in my opinion. However, since the game crashed (I was clicking everywhere, searching how to remove this embargo, and my game is quite unstable), the result has been the same. I had to reload an older game.

I found where was the embargo/remove embargo in the diplomatic screen, since, but I as I didn't noticed it when I had this embargo issue, perhaps I couldn't remove the embargo in this situation...not sure...

Random Embargo

Um, when this event happened to me (England, GC, 1.08), I looked in the research screen, and I was getting -98 to trade research during the five (?) years of the event. And, yes, I was pretty unhappy about that, esp. since the Anglia CoT had not appeared yet.
