I'm currently playing the Moghul Empire in Fantasia, and China is making a habit of slapping trade embargos on me. Not that I need access to Shantung, given its measly trade volume of 780d or so. :) Actually, a permanent casus belli against them comes in very handy. :D Anyhow, that's where I have a question: as long as China refuses trade with me, I'm supposed to have a permanent casus belli against them, right? Problem is, I don't. When I check my diplomacy screen, I'm subject to an embargo alright, but no casus belli in sight. Any ideas/comments?

I don't think that was the case here. China slapped the embargo on me and I had a permanent casus belli when I checked right afterwards - but a few years later, when I finally got around to declaring war on them, the diplomacy screen no longer listed a casus belli against them (even though the embargo was still in effect). :( Anyhow, it seems to have been a fluke of some sorts: I restarted the game, and now the casus belli shows up. :)

Okie, thanks. I would have gone to war against China regardless (i.e. with penalty or without). After one and a half centuries of exploration/colonization, a bit of military conquest sounded just like what the doctor ordered. :D

Could be it started as a real embargo, then they had that event for a while and then that event wore of and it went back to the initial situation. I've had that happen before.
