I was wondering, is the trade system color coded(as in age of pirates 2) so you can see which goods are produced/exported from a town and which are imported? Let me explain, if you can for example make a profit in buying spice the color of spice on the trade screen is green and the prices of the goods are stored in your log so you can easily see what the prices were in that town the last time you visited. Basically I'm curious about the amount of data available and how its organized. If its not color coded that just means players have to learn the prices and what goods are best to buy where from time spent playing the game(e.g. pr 2) which if fine I was just wondering how trade and goods information is presented/stored.

How about monopolies? If I buy up all the goods of a certain type in every port and keep it bought out(yes, I understand that would require a vast fortune) could I theoretically set the market?

I know this isn't in(at least from what I've read) but just a note, I should have liked to have been able to build factories/production facilities in ports I controlled maybe an idea for next time eh? *grin*

Well one thing I can tell you is that for every item in the trading screen the game always shows the profit in your home town. Certainly nice for beginners, but maybe a little bit too much hand holding for an experienced player.

I think you can do that if you control all ports which produce that MTI. For instance, there are only two ports that produce ivory.

Don't know if this is the right place to ask but i have a problem.
I have 7 ports in my posession, 4 in India but my tradingships return home half empty.Should i stop them for a few months untill there's more stuff on the market. It's not because of money problems.

I also had a problem with a fleet that got stuck in (just outside) a port.Tryed to move him but i didn't work. Now comes the weird part, i decided to sell the ships of that fleet( 4 of them). The first three dissapeared from the window after selling but not the last one.I have sold it about 10 times and i saw the money adding up to my account but that ship stayed in port.

A few minutes later i got a CTD and the fun was over.A window appeared with the message" East India Company dosn't work anymore and has to be closed.

Depends on how much cargo space you have to fill and what level your trading posts are. The better the trading post the more quickly the supply replenishes. If your post is maxed out you should never have to worry about filling the holds, unless you're running like 5 Indiamen in a fleet.

If money's not a problem I don't see why your holds would be part empty, though. The captains will buy stone or whatever along the way as long as it will turn any kind of profit at all.

Thanks for the info.

I have the same problem again with a fleet that dosn't want to move just outside a port. This time i tryed to move the ships in an new fleet and again i got a CTD with that message that EIC dosn't work properly and has to be closed.

I had a similar problem with a port once and it turned out it had the plague and the computer was having trouble when I kept clicking to go in to it. Once it crashed and once it let it go into port (eventually) only to quarantine the ship. When I was thinking about it later, I realised it had probably been a plague both times and my furiously clicking (Ihave never been known for my patience with computers) :p probably only made matters worse.

So, all i have to do is leave it alone. As far as i know i don't have a plague and the port isn't in quarantine.
That's not good because that fleet has three galleons in it, i loose a lot of money like that.
