I've got a transport that I've created a route for so that it picks up concrete at a production location and moves it to my storage near a biome but it's completely ignoring the nice, fast TUNNEL I built so that this could be done quickly and instead, it's taking the LOOOOONG route. I can force him to use the tunnel if I am controlling his every move, but I can't practically do that. Is this a bug?

Yes, everything ignores tunnels in this game unless it is the ONLY way to get to a point. Even colonists also ignore them and march to their deaths when trying to move between domes that are too far apart on the map.

thats a bit sh*!@#t to be very honest. I have gone away from tunnel for colonists though.... I rather fly them ....

Yeah, it's a tad broken at the moment. Pathfinding in general. I've seen rovers go to the other side of the map and run up against an impassible cliff trying to get to a metal deposit in the valley below (tunnel was the only way to get to it), and other stuff I've forgotten as time has gone on.

I'm hoping we get some fixes for that soonish.

I can't believe the pathfinding is this bad. That, and the lack of end game goals and the terrible UI is holding me back recommending this game to my friends.

Auto Gather Transport mod has better pathing and tunnel use. Hopefully the devs will implement similar pathing into the base game in a future update.

Looks like this problem was addressed in the latest patch. Can anybody confirm?
Yep, Transports seem to work a lot better for me. After I reached 1000 pop. on my last map, I was done. I spent a bit of time running my Transports around, and they behaved much better. The two problems I had were lower terrain Transports ignoring tunnels and taking the long way around, and high terrain Transports ignoring tunnels and get stuck trying to drive off a cliff. Both of these issues were fixed with the Spirit Update.

It's better now, but still not completely fixed. While I did not test if transport now uses tunnel as a shortcut, I can confirm that he will successfully use a tunnel in a transport route when required.

However, he will not be able to complete a transfer route that requires him to use two different tunnels.
