I am making some trees and find they are very high in polygon count. Too big in my opinion. I'm seeing 32mb so far. I don't plan on spraying the map with them but just to make some special trees for certain areas. But I want to be careful how big I make them.

Some questions:
1. Does the game treat trees as instanced objects or duplicates?
2. What is the average size of the in game trees in terms of mb and polygon count?
3. What should be the highest file size for a tree?
 
Its a good question, I know there is a limit on either size or poly count, to trees and others. as I tried importing a tree few weeks back and would not work, till I set pro-optimizer in Max to reduce count by 50%, then exported same way and worked.

Would be great if they gave details on everything for things like this then guessing, why things not loading in, be it bit size of normal maps, too max size of poly count or files sizes per type of import, for both low/Hi poly. Even photo sizes for everything would be nice, as of right now we mostly stumbling around finding this stuff out.

This is the monster I'm experimenting with at over 2000 faces. Not a monster normally in regular 3D rendering though...in fact low poly by that standard.

I just want to see what it looks like in game and test the limits. I will report how it goes when I'm done.....
