Thanks for the compliments, I'm almost embarrassed  .

Just a little mouse pointer... now I'm curious to know if bestmajor will also like it more than the previous one. :)

i do!

i deleted a part of my previous post as it could be interpreted as criticism, but i think we have a common taste: you pulled out a lot of colour and thats something i like a lot when it comes to items/pics in colour - the maximum of colour is not the optimum.

so i appreciate the new version a lot (reminds me to improve the soviets again), thanks!

(but maybe add both versions, i only described my personal taste and there will be people who think the opposite)

I think that was his original plan - so far he has always put multiple versions of icons at the same time for the player to choose so in the next update he will make there will most probably also be this new icon together with the old one.

You're welcome! I was (almost) sure you'd have appreciated the new version better than the previous one... ;)

Can I ask you, by the way, what did you delete from a previous post of yours, as you've written? I didn't even notice it but, in any case, no worries: feel free to express your opinions. I'm here not only for taking compliments but also for getting a healthy good bashing every now and then :D ;) .

I concur that the first one was too colorful. Nonetheless, this isn't the main reason why I've decided to make a new version: it's the contrast when on dark background that drove me nuts. I've searched for another image, fiddled about it for a while... and I was much more satisfacted with the new one.

Besides, re: color in general, the same goes for me: I've redone a lot of aircraft icons, before releasing the TP, to make them appear less colorful than I've originally made them. Everything has its limits, and sometimes those little pests had truly too much saturation for my taste... I had to do something! ;)

Well... not really. :)

While you're absolutely right when you state that I've sometimes made - and kept - different version of e.g. the same button/icon/whatever (take the VoW or Naval VoW buttons), this time I won't add both in the next release of the Corrections file: that's because they're basically the same thing with one version being clearly superior to the other, IMO.

So, if you want to keep the "First Guards Div. arrow" as a relic :D , feel free to do so, since there will be no sign of it in the Tripartite Pack ;) .

You are full of surprises aren't you! ;)
You know, it only depends on the point of view you adopt and on what your expectations are, that's all ;)

I concur that the first one was too colorful.

what you have metioned in your last sentence, basically. it looked good, only i tought it could be better if you'd pulled some colours out again (what you did in the 2nd version).
as its an icon it would still be good. if you do the same with leaderpics, you'll end up with an army of deeply tanned and rouged clowns.

Yep, balancing colors is important, probably no less than drawing a good icon (or making a good leader pic)...

...at least, to avoid this:

if you do the same with leaderpics, you'll end up with an army of deeply tanned and rouged clowns.
...ha ha HAAA!!!! This really made me laugh loud...

;)

Don't worry, there was no hurry!

About the people in your links... wow, I wonder how much money they used to spend for daily makeup :D (it's definitely a good thing you did avoid effects like those... :) ).

Errr... yes, I know, I should be updating... The good news is that there are some 20 aircraft already in the tubes (coming straight from Manfred's latest kindly provided links) but I've yet to polish them; another reason for the unusual delay is that I'm rather busy with a new, little project. I'll try not to be too late!

Edit:

Speaking about buttons: I'd gladly make some of them but I'm currently out of ideas... which ones do you think could still be improved? And, by the way, did you like the new "split troops" and "disembark" ones?

Additional compliments here

Very nice work.

A little nitpicking, just to nitpick : I dont like your money symbol. Either a dollar symbol or a gold lingot (if clear enouigh) or gold pieces (easily identified, and gold is the premium war currency) would have been better.

Otherwise, it's a 19.5/20

Thank you very much for the compliments, really appreciated :) .

Thanks also for the suggestion. Hmm, yes, since I found that alternate money symbol I've somehow forgotten about it and never thought about making a better one. Good idea! I'll fiddle about with that and then show the results.

Last but not least:

Otherwise, it's a 19.5/20
Too kind - that's really too much :eek:o . Glad you like the mod!

basically the buttons for the events ("ok") and such. i liked the GIP ones with the light brown colour http://www.atthefront.com/us/uniforms/images/whatiskhaki/khaki_M42set_comp.jpg .

its just a few buttons which you see very often in game and they make a big difference - just try GIP with armageddon. IMO its a bit too much colour but i leave this to you - the basic idea is good.

do you mean the "Button_unload" and "Button_reorg"? thats something i use, good work! - apologies if i missed something, i'm busy with my own stuff and probably missed something?

Hm, ok, I'll take a look at them and see what can I improve!

Exactly those two buttons, yes. Don't worry, you most probably didn't miss anything as the last update has been rather small in terms of new features.

Anyway, if you want to be sure, just take a look at the bottom of the readme.txt, which I update regularly by each release of the Corrections.rar file with the new additions in the TP.

EDIT:

New version of Corrections.rar uploaded. Contains some 26 new aircraft icons* (made from the latest findings from Manfred) as well as a couple of minor fixes; get it from the 1st post in this thread, as usual.

* = missing aircraft model list (2nd post of this thread) updated accordingly.

A great thing about this mod is that it doesn't appear to change the 'checksum' essential for a mod to remain compatible with like mods(or vanilla). My only problem s that it doesn't seem to work with the Gunships 'Iron Cross' MOD. If there is anyone that might understand why, or how to avoid overwriting the essential file(s), please explain it to me. I'd love to play with it over the Gunships MOD, an otherwise spectacular MOD with added map detail(perhaps the 'Iron Cross map-I don't know since I don't have it)'.

Since the mod is based essentially on graphics and audio, it has a very limited number of text files, which are the ones that can alter the game's checksum.

However, there are some. Here's a list of all the text files contained in the Tripartite Pack, with in bold the only two which actually change the checksum:

\config\models.csv
\db\country.csv
\db\province.csv

\map\colorscales.csv

All you need to do is to check the other mod's \db\ directory. If it also contains country.csv and/or province.csv, then you know that one of the two mods will have those two files overwritten by the other (depending on which you install last). In your case, you'd want to overwrite the two files from my mod with the ones from Gunship's "Iron Cross" one, which should let you play without problems (I guess, at least).

Also, thank you for having tried the TP!

Hey this worked! I now have the best of both worlds. Thank you so much for your help Titan, and thanks for a great addon.
