Ha ha, yeah, sometimes weird things can happen.

Ok, I'll think about a new look for those icons. However, I stress it again: should you by chance spot an image you think it might fit while e.g surfing the web, then please forward me the link. I can do the icons, no problem, but it's adequate starting picture(s) which often can be difficult to find (both for model icons, battle icons, interface elements... pretty much anything).
 
Well, I had more icons attached back then but I figured step by step is also better for you not to scare you away. ;) Also, if I happen to attach an icon which is not displayed in game (I do believe there are some of such type) please readers do warn Titan about it!

My brains do support this kind of multitasking and whenever I watch ww2 pics I always have your needs running in the background. ;)

Icons which are not displayed in game...? I didn't get that part, can you be more specific please?

Anyway, it's good news that you're keeping your eyes open for possible icon images, as I'm afraid you'll have to carry this burden yourself. You can attach as many icons to be redone as you wish, but you'll also have to provide the images which you want me to replace them with: I've done a couple of tests with the former two icons and the results weren't exactly encouraging. Those pesky icons are way too small... and it's a real pain to get something good from a bigger picture, unless it is truly adequate for its task.

I concur those vanilla battle symbols can be improved, and I can do the technical part of the work - but you have to provide me with the raw materials in order for me to shape them. :)
 
For those small icons I can hardly see any real pic would suit. They would have to be made from scratch (drawn by hand). Unless I will stumble upon simialr icons somewhere else - then that can be used in situ I suppose.

Similar, already existing but better looking icons sounds like a good idea - some war game set in the Pacific might provide those, I guess.

Thank you very much, frukenpals! I know it's not that easy to make suggestions for such a kind of mod, but should you have some, please write them down (such as adding flags to icons for countries still not in and which you'd like to see, etc.).

Thanks also for the hint re: the link being not always up for everyone - interesting, I didn't know that! (although there must be something wrong with the "blocked countries" list. I've tried to download the mod myself and there are no problems, although I'm doing it from Italy - an allegedly "blocked" country. Maybe Gamefront considers Triest to be still a part of the Habsburg empire...?)

By the time I'm writing (16:45) it's working. Unfortunately, it has problems every now and then, but as long as the file is still up there...

Thanks Best! Yeah, true. I have all the images from the latest links you provided and which I haven't still turned into icons, though. I'll do so as soon as I'll take a little break from the other AoD-related task I'm currently performing... so the mod has just been set on "idle" for a few weeks, but it's still going to be updated (and even for a long time)!

P.S.: wow, I've read in your thread (AoD in colour) that it took you thousands of hours to gather and process all the sources for your mod(s)... pictures, dates etc. I thought that I spent much time on this but now I see there's simply no comparison with other works - congrats for the tenacity and dedition!

well yes you see the problem is that a tiger tank is usually a tiger tank if you search for pic on the web. that doesnt work with leaders as a lot of people you can find are mis ID'd and the HoI database is a real mess. so sorting things out, translating and all that takes a lot of time. like i have appr 1800 germans released, i have 13000 source images for GER on my hard disk. i have less than 500 japanese released and maybe 800 pics on my hard disk. now making the 500 japanese people takes much more time (maybe 4 times) than eg 2000 germans as everything is in japanese. same for the soviets and dont even ask for Thai generals lol. what we had with that JAP plane happens all the time with their personnel.

did i miss something or is the last ROM tank model missing in your package?

OMG :D . Almost unbelievable if I didn't know that this is actually possible, having experimented a (little) fraction of it myself... a true iron will required, though, to do what you did :) .

No, you're right - in fact, countries like the Axis minors have basically been neglected when it comes to icons other than INF, GAR, MIL and sometimes cavalry (thanks to your links). For example, all the Eastern European Axis allies have still the "basic" armor icons from CPack (I guess), apart from my redifinition of the color and position of the tier level, name etc. that is. It can also happen that one or two of the most advanced models are even missing (as, in a "normal" game, the likelihood to need e.g. an Arm VIII for Romania is very, very small).

Edit: all of what I wrote above being true, I've just checked the TP on my HDD and the ROM Arm VIII is in. Maybe download the file again? It should be there as well as it's exactly the same file as on my PC.

Given that right now I can't even find the time to make an update for the TP, it will be rather difficult.

Still, never say never. Which ones would I need to look for? All the ones in the Italian links (and of course only those having been in charge from e.g. <1936 to >1945)? I guess many of them are already in your packs, though.

Could you make a small list, maybe, or could you send me links with e.g. a pic and a name and then I'd confirm if they're who they seem to be by reading on Italian sites, like we already did in the past?
 
i dont know, i just spotted they look out for "cold war" generals up there - wether the distinction between cold war general and ww2 general makes sense is definately debatable - i jus thought if you spot somebody post up there.

no, you don't do anything wrong - it's a GameFront related issue. For some mysterious reason they seem to ban half the world from downloading from their site... I'm actually unable to download my own mod myself! :D

I'll have to re-upload it by another means i.e. site. I'll do this in short, as too many people have already reported difficulties/being unable to download the TP. Stay tuned!
