Had this issue whilst hosting a game last night. Things were a bit unusual as my friend got disconnected a few times before we could start a game. Finally however I managed to host one and all was fine for maybe twenty minutes until he spontaneously disconnected and couldn't reconnect, only ever making it to 43% initialized until connection stopped. Leaving the game and entering into the main menu would now ask me to log in to again either host or join.

My friend managed to host a game thankfully and all was well, but there does seem to be an issue of logging out mid-player joining for the host or something like that.
I have since changed the firewall settings and wait for an opportunity to test it. We were of the same version. I had Royal Ed. He did not.

Thanks sincerely for your time. Ed

Having the same issue. Whenever I try to play with my friend the one not hosting the game is getting kicked out of his Paradox Account about every 20 Minutes. Really makes no sense playing like that. Tried all the workarounds in this thread. We are playing on Steam under Windows. Another update on the issue would be appreciated!

First time playing it, since i got this from the xbox pc app i couldnt disable cloud saves however a vpn does work for me. hope there is a more permanent fix considering i dont want to have my play time limited

I have been waiting for a fix to this for five months now and am considering asking for a refund. For me, the Paradox login doesn't work outside of CK3 either, kicks me out every time I click a link, and doesn't even reflect that I own CK3 or CK2 despite Steam being linked. I can't even post bug report information regarding the issue without the site's spam detector preventing me from posting.

I'm sorry this is still an issue!

But you must have used it to log in here? What site can you not log into please?

I see those in your owned items here. You can ignore what you see in the My Games page, it's pretty broken at present but does not affect anything else.

Users with low post counts cannot include links in their posts. This is a forum anti-spam measure; anything else should be fine, just no links.

I wanted to state, that despite the tips in the forum here (which I followed) this is still an issue.
Have you tried all these?

Disable IPv6
- Close CK3
- Go to Control Panel > View Network status and tasks > Change adapter settings (left side)
- Find your Hamachi Connection and Disable it
- Find your Internet connection adapter (for me, it was WiFi)
- Right click your internet adapter and select properties
- Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box
- Select Ok
- Start up CK3 and should work.

Disable all other network adapters

  1. Go to Windows Control panel.
  2. Click on Network & Internet.
  3. Click on View Network Status.
Quick Tip: You can also quickly access these settings by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting the Network & Internet settings option.
  4. Click on Change adapter options.
  5. Right-click all network adapters that are not connected to the internet and select the Disable option.

Use a VPN

- Obtain a VPN

- Set the country to the US (why this works is also an enigma ><)

- Start the game

- Sign in and see if it "sticks"

Did exactly as you described. Disabled IPV6, disabled all other adapters, obtained VPN to US. Still only one second logged in before the account is logged out again.

That's very unusual, one of those almost always helps.

How is your internet connection - could it be slow and/or unreliable?

What if you do a test install and login from some other computer in the same network (if any) - same problem?

I have this issue trying to play the game on steam. I was able to login using a vpn though. I pay for PIA so I just did what others have said. I logged into my vpn on my windows 10 pc, loaded the game, signed into multiplayer. Then I exited the game, signed out of my vpn and was still able to do multiplayer. And for reference, I live in Michigan, and my pc is an i7 5th gen, 64gb of ram, GPU is a 3060ti, and the game is installed on an nvme while my OS is on a standard HDD, I am running windows 10 version 21H1. I work as a sys admin, and this doesn't make any sense to me that it works using a VPN that is connecting to a server in Chicago. I also run a pi-hole recursive dns server, 2 of them actually for redundancy. I did try changing my dns on my computer to google to see if it was a domain getting blocked and got the same results. I also have xbox game pass, so I tried to install it through that too. I just keep getting failed to launch game. So that may be a different issue than steam. I just can't believe this is still an issue after so long. I am just happy I found this forum though. Thank you guys for some insight, even though it's still an issue and the reason is still unknown.

Hi there.
I tried these but it didn't work or can not "sticks"
  • disabled ipv6
  • config firewall
  • use VPN and set US\HK\JAPAN\Netherlands
  • only execute ck3.exe

only this way make it "sticks" for 20min (but only 20min)

disabled steam cloud sync.

We'll joke that Ubisoft's servers are made of potatoes. what about paradox?

Had same issue, turned out, that Hamachi blocks connection somehow.
Disabling Hamachi network adapter in Network adapter settings fixes this problem, at least in my case.

It is still an issue. I managed to join a multiplayer game me and my gf wanted to set-up, but I got kicked out, and haven't been able to log back in since. I am logged in on the launcher just fine. it keeps endlessly loading the login, eventually it gives an 'unknown error'. I cannot create a multiplayer game, and we can therefore not play together. Hers worked perfectly fine. Both are on the same network.

I have the same issue here that suddenly appeared last week. On the eve, we were playing with friends and we had no issue.s And the next day, there is this impossibility to connect to Paradox account (and therefore play online) when inside the game (Paradox account is well connected in CK3 launcher; and multiplayer in other Paradox games as Stellaris work).
And when you connect inside CK3, it empties and keep logging the "connected" (see captures).
No VPN used, nothing weird changed, even with Windows firewall disabled it still happens...only for CK3. I tried uninstall/install several times too, with or without Steam cloud.
