Hello,

i do realize that this problem is most likely steam related but as their support did not yet bother to answer I am going to post it here instead.

Steam patched my game to 1.05 with no issues. Then I decided to get the ruler creator DLC, which steam also downloaded. Right after that CK2 refused to start, giving me the following error message:

""Keine Verbindung zum Steam-Netzwerk möglich.
Dies könnte an einem Problem mit Ihrer Internet-Verbindung oder mit dem Steam-Netzwerk liegen. Bitte besuchen Sie http://www.steampowered.com, um weitere Informationen zu erhalten."

Well, it's German but it basically says that it is unable to connect to the steam network and you should take a look at their homepage for further information or that it could be an internet problem on my side.

As you can see my internet works fine, so I tried to disable firewall and anti virus software. I even disconnected the router and set up a direct internet connection. Furthermore in steam I did a "check file integrity / cache" on CK2; not sure what it is called exactly and right now I cannot check it for obvious reasons. As all that did not solve the problem I decided to reinstall steam as a whole. Did not help either. It uninstalled all my steam games and now I am unable to play any of them as I still get that same error message when I try to start steam.

So, while I do not expect you to solve steam related problems it would be nice to put me into the right direction, or give me an option to play CK2 without steam.

TIA :)

just go to steam/appdata/common/crusader kings ii

and run the launcher from there, if the DLC installed properly you shoul be able to access it

Thanks, steam is indeed experiencing issues with the login servers since yesterday. I admit I could have investigated further before posting here :)
So for all the other lazy ones, here's a link to the steam forum with at least some official info:

Now all I have to do is wait and remember to buy paradox games via GG again next time :)
